Hi.

I am the owner of the "shaw1" bitcointalk user account.

On July 14th, someone tried to hack my account.
They logged in, changed the email, and then reset my password.

These triggered email alerts.

I saw those within a few hours, and followed the link to lock my account.
I figured this was going to be some colossal pain, and I have procrastinated on doing this, but I've gotta get this taken care of, sooner or later.

So my question is how do I go about restoring my account?
The problem, as I see it, was that my password was too short, and had been used on a couple of other sites.
I don't have an address posted with any signed messages, or anything, but I have my original email address, control of web projects I have posted here, and could get friends to vouch for me on the BTCPOP platform.

First time being hacked, so any help would be appreciated. Smiley

1. Move the topic on the meta board. You will get right people to see your issue.
2. Follow this topic: Recovering hacked accounts or accounts with lost passwords
3. Then wait until you become Papa Coco Grin

Be happy be at peace. Looking forward to BTC at $1M

Did you mean this account[1]?

It is hard to believe that an account with that rank "Sr. Member", with good posts, collected about 40 merits, more than 406 days, and did not have to know the basics of the forum "recovery an account".

I reviewed your posts [some of them indicate the rules of the forum and others in the Meta section], it is difficult to believe that you did not notice[2].
Generally, accounts recovery are not signing/verify address, so an investigation will be conducted "This topic will be detrimental to the investigation."

Good luck on waiting for that.
I started the recovery months back and never got a reply...
