What makes a coin dead? I would say when it has no active nodes, no trading volume and no development, in that order. Anyone have a different definition?
Majority of the projects or coins you mentioned are just replicas of the open source code that is available and they are in to make money when they can and shut when they reach their target, make sure you understand the risk when you are investing in anything that is not listed in the top ten market cap.

My second question, why does CMC still list these coins!?!?!?
If you are shelling out money then they will list, first they will shell out money to an exchange to list their coin and then it will be listed in CMC, money talks here.

And that's good for the market in general. We don't need that much and most of them aren't real projects anyway. Just projects of a few greedy people trying to make money out of other people's money. One good thing about the 2018 bear market is that it opened a lot of people's eyes to all the negative possibilities and that bitcoin isn't just a quick way to make money.

No nodes, I believe. If there still some nodes, the coin is alive. However, how trustable and reliable such a coin is ... it's a different question.

The coin is dead when it have very low volume of trading, very small community, and not listed in good exchanges, and in this case, it lose automatically its position in CMC because they require that the coin is listed minimum in 2 good exchanges.

if a Coin dies if likened to a human then he is lifeless, inactive, forgotten, only a name. So in my opinion, dead coins are coins that do not have market activity, not active developers / investors. and what is clearer is that no Exchange wants to accept. (Who wants to accept the corpse?)

of course no one wants to buy dead coins because have are no longer active and there are no developers, as we have seen to date so many coins die in the near future. some of the causes are because don't have volume on the market, are listed on bad exchanges and many other things. 1 additional point, only a fool would want accept or buy dead coins.

Having no development and no trading volumes will make the coins perish. unlike some of the other coins that have a low price if their trade volumes continue to grow, there will be a possibility for it to become alive for long but if the devs will not update their project then there will be a huge breakdown of the price. and possible the coin will be dead too.

Dead coins are those who aren't trading or no volume on such exchanges. No development on their project or any updates on their social channels. This dead coins are those coins who haven't survived the pull of the bear market and made their devs to get out.

Your tokens didn't listed on CMC because of other reason. Mostly it's because your tokens haven't listed in at least 2 exchanges to able listed on CMC or it still need other requirement to listed on CMC. It's rarely for CMC removed any token just because it's not active or no any development

I guess first when registering at CMC, this project manipulates sales charts. Perhaps many people have talked that many projects are trying to manipulate the sales charts, so they can enter the CMC. However, once this project can enter in the CMC, the Dev is no longer developing this project. Because it is true that the project is not able to compete with the others, eventually the coin becomes dead.

They do have that listing criteria https://coinmarketcap.com/methodology/#listings-criteria
and as said CMC do barely remove up these dead coins if we try to look up on the https://coinmarketcap.com/all/views/all/ it do have
2300+ listed and on the bottom are already considered shitcoins.

Moreover, we have thousands of altcoins in the market and I am not sure that coinmarketcap will have the tools to always monitor some of these dead coins, except maybe they get hints through post like this one, I also assume that coinmarketcap is trying to act as a data collation company and if you talk of those companies, they should be able to provide information on even dead coins at any time in future no matter how long, and not only dead coin, and also on all the projects that we have in the market.

I am just thinking in this direction of yours too of what could make those project still remain in cmc, and I think that you have a very valid and reasonable point there also on those coins having fake volume, but it means we have some top coins too that are not supposed to be where they are.

My second question, why does CMC still list these coins!?!?!?

CMC is listing coins THAT passed and submit their required standards. For such inactivities of projects, I think it takes months before they delist it or maybe an appeal.
Considering the issue CoinMarketCap has this past months regarding to fake volumes maybe there’s a chance that those deadcoins are being used as well
Quote
I think coins could be considered dead if the team has no funds to develop or they abandon(No activity for a month atleast)
Well there are couple of currency that just being del8t from CMC this year and I believe that there are others to come as well, and yes Appealing to the management about the currencies that don’t progressed almost dead is a good move to delist some of them

Dead coins have no volume, prices and orders on the market. one of the things that makes it that way is that there are no active developers, willing Miners, and enthusiastic communities. so the coin is silent and does not work. CMC still has a stock of data> 3000 coins. very much. some people make CMC as a reference so maybe that's the reason.

CMC has delisted a lot of coins with no volume anymore, therefore we cannot find majority of the coins in CMC if we will look for the dead coins.
Dead coins does not necessarily they are dead actually, they just lost their volume but as long as they are in exchanges, they can still rise up when the altcoins started to have its own rally.

It's an advantage if such coin has a decentralized exchange as it will be traded right away without any fear that it will be delisted in centralized exchange.
Every coin aimed to have liquidity but with the strong competition in the market, they need to stay competitive to survive, unfortunately, not all of them has the capability to compete, especially at the times where altcoins are not so appreciated.

Most of the people are kept tracking the coins through CMC only because it is good to check what are the exact volumes generating by those coins. If a coin is not generating any volumes then it is a very good indication that we don't see any active developments from the company and moreover community is not showing any interest in those coins.
