Pedophiles and criminals engaged in child cybersex are proliferating in the Philippines as the cybersex industry becomes more sophisticated and profitable despite numerous crackdowns both by local and foreign authorities, according to a report by Channel News Asia.

Citing a study by the Financial Coalition Against Child Pornography and the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children titled Cryptocurrency and the BlockChain, it said that encrypted payment systems involving cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin are driving the proliferation of live-streaming child sexual abuse. On average, live abuse or when a user instructs the children to perform sexual acts, cost around 10 Bitcoins when it was still worth $10,000, but a live-stream view-only would cost one Bitcoin.

What are people's thoughts on this? Do you believe it is helping the industry or is it just incidental?

this is miraculous, crypto is said to be the mastermind behind violence, sexuality, terrorism and illicit drugs.
is there no more binding news to reduce the crypto market?

I think this is become the disadvantage of cryptocurrency because it can be use anonymous which become the advance for the criminal to running their action.
Of course the government need to make safe regulation for preventing future abuse !

yes you are right, the world of bitcoin will not be wrong because it will not be possible for bitcoin to do that. we must blame the bad people who are not responsible on behalf of bitcoin. out there there are still bad people who don't have feelings because they are only selfish and do whatever they want. but this crime is difficult to eliminate because bitcoin has an anonymous nature.

this is only an indirect consequence that occurs, it can even be said that cryptocurrency is the victim of the alleged nonsense opinion against him. if the knife is used to kill people then makes the knife the antagonist of the murder case story? really a very illogical thought, blaming something for people's mistakes. even since the first time fiat has been used as a tool, a tool for committing crimes. in my opinion this is an old issue that people use to bring into conflict to the community.

And again, the same situation: you can not take some bad and terrible aspect of life and put the blame for some one factor. This is categorically wrong. Child porn and violence existed before the advent of bitcoins. Yes, to some extent it makes it easier to pay for such events, but it is not exactly the root cause. Philippines with his liberalism are point cybermonday at the moment.

I dont see how you see soviet propoganda. I dont think that cryptos are not used for illegal activities . I know that they are and will be used by illegal activity but the wider perception is that cryptos are exclusively used by criminals while traditional banking is not, thats why I mentioned PayPal and how it is used.

Yes, it's Soviet propaganda.
Somebody accuses bitcoin of something and you start your argument with "but about the..."
It's called whataboutism and it relies on acting the other party rather than trying to defend a lost cause

And yeah, cryptos are used for illegal activities and only a blind zealot will deny this. Drugs, hacked accounts, stolen credit cards, banned porn, you can use cryptos to get those. Of course, you could also use fiat, or other methods of payment to get those but it doens't changes the thing that indeed cryptos are used for it, in a smaller percentage but still ...they are used.

So, why did you start immediately throwing the blame at paypal?
Nobody denies that indeed there are more illegalities committed via paypal and far more banks but that doesn't change anything.
The fact is that is a lot easier to pay some weirdo in Ph to do something nasty in front of the camera via cryptos rather than via PayPal, don't you think?

It was known from the start that this so pseudo anonymity of cryptos will attract the bad guys that will try to exploit it and w will have to live with it.
Knowing that somebody is buying illegal porn via BTC hasn't stopped me from buying a laptop and a lot of computer parts, subscriptions and even an airplane ticket with BTC.

An online payment system like bitcoin can be use by some elements in their illegal activities but doesn't help spread or createcrimes like sexual abuse, drug trafficking or money laundering. These illicit activities has been happening long before cryptocurrencies are created and they uses mostly fiat to finance their activities. Cryptocurrencies can be difficult to use for some criminals because they must go to the net first to be able to use it.

Ofcourse its not! I think they are not using crypto, they are using other payment channel like visa mastercard and paypal.

Child sexual abuse is already there before the introduction of cryptocurrency to the society. Stop blaming crypto it is the greedy, pervert people who uses bitcoin in their illegal doing.

Probably OP, it has a slight chance that cryptocurrency could be use for this act as a form of payment. This happen because of cryptocurrency features about anonymity. However, as I read the replies of other users here may consider correct for the child sexual abuse will not going to put to a stop because there were many ways doing a payment for the transaction to complete.

so, there were no child abuse when there was no Bitcoin? one more thing, if any child abuser uses Bitcoin, he/she is completely volatile to track down with the help of the blockchain.

I'm going to be unfashionable and say yes. Just as the internet has helped to propagate it, the ability to monetise it with greater anonymity will too. It's not to blame. It's just a tool and tools will be exploited by everyone no matter what their motivation. It removes barriers as all technologies do. It's possible that someone with this perversion may act on it whereas before they would not because of it. Same as the internet itself.

It does probably make it easier for them to collect payments, but without cryptocurrencies, would they stop? I don't think so. They're just going to look for another alternative.

See, no matter what technology, criminals and sickos can always take advantage of them. Cars can be used for getaway vehicles for thieves. Mobile phones can be used to detonate bombs and such. Guns for murdering. The list goes on.
