Case in question is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=493435.0. Every 24hrs or so HashFast clean the threads, removing the history and warnings current customers are giving to new, potential customers. They are in effect hiding their own failings to bring in more preorder money for products that - by their track record at least - are deceiving.

While there needs to be protection for companies being trolled, outright censorship does nothing but ruin this forum. We end up with 9 different HashFast threads, some open and some self moderated. It all ends up a mess.

What I propose is that companies with current severe issues (which can be decided via my thread in sig), should be temporarily suspending from being allowed to create new self moderated threads.

I'm not sure if it's needed, the trust system should be able to give people a good warning.

We know what the trust system means, but I still think the demographic most likely to get duped (or mis-represented to) are the exact demographic who are least familiar with the trust system and what it means.

Not to mention that it's turned off in the forum designated specifically for them, for some inexplicable reason...

You could just as easily copy and paste a clone topic and make one that isn't self-moderated, sometimes these people have even been goaded into responding on it through there because no one will use the self-moderated thread.

People do exactly that, but then it creates 15x threads when everyone tries to. It also then does nothing to actually inform the buyers going to the original squeaky clean thread with no warnings given from the experienced members, us, which newer members trust. 'If we're not calling it a scam, it can't be a scam.' But all the warnings are deleted Sad

Self Moderation should be removed entirely from certain sections such as services. More often than not it seems to be used inappropriately.

How about disabling self moderation for anybody with negative trust (assuming DefaultTrust is trusted)?

Self-Moderation is the perfect dochebag filter, it shows you who's worth having a conversation with and can actually hold their own in an argument and who isn't, I think this system works fine.

That would work. If you're not trustworthy enough to trade, you shouldn't be trustworthy enough to censor others.

Self Moderation shouldn't be allowed at all. If you have problems with people trolling your thread , do what everyone else does and report the posts. If they're truly in the wrong, mods will delete their post(s).

There is absolutely no reason why regular members should have mod privileges.
