If you wanted to have anonymity features in an altcoin, would you be willing to use a coin with anonymous technology if it was not open source?  Or would you require such a coin to be open source?

Only open source technology.  can't trust the system I can't check out, I think the algorithm and technology should be open sourced.

Darkcoin and Bytecoin meet the requirement of anonymity and both based on open-sourced techs.

IMHO, someone is telling Satoshi Nakamoto was involved in creating bytecoin.
