While most people often get confused on the difference between this two concepts considering the fact that a database is a conventional means of storing information, and thats  exactly what the blockchain does,it will be apt to point out from the beginning that a blockchain is also a database but there also abounds different factors that makes them different..
The blockchain is a sort of modern database, introduced with the inception of the bitcoin in 2008 by satoshi nakatomi,it records all the transactions that go on in the bitcoin network, every single transaction from day1 is recorded in the blockchain, but it is sort of decentralized in the sense that it can be access through different servers, and available to a huge number of people
The database is the conventional method of storing informantions, where informations are stored in a single system but accessed through a particular server, informations in database are subject to retrieval on various systems
