I have seen many posts on various ways of blockchain usage here, in particular, regarding environmental protection, "green" projects, etc. Here's another one interesting project.
The Ugandan energy company CleanPath Emerging Markets (CPEM) is cooperating with a local blockchain startup
"Wala" to facilitate the supply of solar energy to Ugandans via cryptocurrency payments.
Uganda's local currency (Ugandan shilling) is currently suffering from excessive banking fees. As a result, many Ugandans are difficult to make basic purchases. To deal with the problem, a startup Wala developed a mobile app to act as a digital wallet and payment platform in the country. But Wala did not plan to stop there.
Now Wala is joining forces with CPEM, the Ugandan Ministry of Energy, and Mineral Development to build a massive solar energy plant that will accept payments in DALA tokens. The initiative aims to provide not only a much-needed service to thousands of locals but also reduce the countries environmental impact.
I think it's great that we find the application of technology in different industries. In a couple of years, thousands of fraudulent and just useless crypto startups will die, but many beneficial projects will remain and maybe change your usual lifestyle.
