Galvin talked to the CIA, and Satoshi never talked to him again...

Yep.

The printing press heralded the end of the Dark Ages and made the Enlightenment possible, but it took another three centuries before any country managed to put freedom of the press beyond the reach of legislators.  So it may take a while before cryptocurrencies are free of the AML-NSA-KYC surveillance plague.

"Then he told Nakamoto he'd accepted an invitation to speak at the Central Intelligence Agency headquarters.

.... From that moment, Satoshi Nakamoto stopped responding to emails and dropped off the map."

WTF!!!!!

 is this true?Huh

If this is true, who here doesn't believe that it is the CIA that has those 900k coins of Satoshi's???

Why is it that Bitcoiners believe that they're among the smartest people on the planet for understanding the concept of cryptocurrency and recognising its value and yet they fail so spectacularly at reading comprehension and logic on a regular basis?

It's proven that people don't generally read comprehensively. They skim. It's been studied, at length. Google it.

yes its true. the around the same time gavin decided to accept the invitation to speak at the cia thats when satoshi nakamoto decided to go away.

whoever the real nakamoto is , it's clear that he/she was/is  very paranoid of government and wants nothing to do with bitcoin as soon as government starts asking questions.

He disappeared from public view before that.  His famous "hornet's nest" post (his second last, made in December 2010) was in response to a PC Magazine article about Wikileaks and Bitcoin.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2216.msg29280#msg29280

He appealed to Wikileaks not to use Bitcoin, believing that an association between the two could destroy Bitcoin.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1735.msg26999#msg26999

Gavin did not announce the planned visit to the CIA until April 2011, over 4 months after Satoshi disappeared from public view.

https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=6652.0

He didn't announce it publicly but it appears he announced it to Satoshi before then.

I remember reading that among others, the CEO of Yahoo was recently threatened with treason unless she cooperated with the NSA and the data access requests.

It could very well be the same in this situation, and once Gavin had the meeting he was threatened as well. Satoshi could have known this was exactly what was going to happen and didn't want any part of it.

Is the Earth round or flat?

Columbus believed the earth was flat and on his journey to India (well ..  USA, lol) he was scared his ship may fall off an edge of earth.

I'm not sure when and how the earth started becoming round.

There is nothing more stupid and embarrassing than a "hero member" who fails at obvious scenario of simple causation.

Nothing makes me laugh more when dumb ass hero members pat themselves on the back for buying bitcoin early and assuming everyone else is stupid without even the briefest pause for second thought.

He did announce it here, and actually saw this as a preventive measure against having bitcoin considered something invented to break the law. Gavin wasn't in any way "approached" he got an invitation to talk at a convention i think.
