What's your OS? Which version of Electrum are you using?

Try to go to the folder %appdata%\Electrum and delete the "blockchain_headers" file. Then, open Electrum again and wait a few minutes for it to synchronize.

Why are you on version 2.7.12? Update Electrum to the latest version (3.2.3).

The 2.x versions now have synchronization issues, apart from them being insecure and vulnerable to certain already fixed exploits.

The next time you got network-/display-/synchronisation issues, try to check your address (which should receive funds) on a block explorer.

This will narrow the problem down. Knowing whether you received the funds is the first step.

Also, you should try to ALWAYS have your wallet up-to-date.
As TryNinja mentioned, older versions of electrum have vulnerabilities which can lead to a loss of all of your funds simply by visiting a malicious website.

NEVER use outdated software. Neither OS's, browsers nor wallets or anything else.
