Definitely a far-out theory, but who's to say Newsweek
wasn't played by Gox...to draw media attention away
from all those stolen coins?

Unlikely, perhaps... Still, creating 'events' and such is a favorite
tactic used by politicians to divert attention away
from real issues.

there seems to me to be a lot of bad news happening all around the same time... high profile arrest, malleability/gox, satoshi, the young womans suicide, some story about a linux bitcoin client related bug, all in the wake of the regulatory hearings/warnings from govts. and the meeting gavin andresen had with the CFR in february...

I literally just posted something talking about the same thing without reading your thread first. I'm glad to see you are thinking the same thing. This is just too perfect man. The biggest bitcoin scandal hits and omg look over here it's satoshi! Everybody quick change the subject the bitcoin creator magically resurfaces. My bullshit flag is thrown.

Gox is not competent enough to redirect people's attention like this.

Wanted to post a snarky comment about Gox but I really couldn't have said it better myself. 0% chance Gox was in any way involved with this.

I love how the kids on this forum seem to know everything there is to know about everything....after the fact. and manage to direct their ire at whomever might be in the hot-seat at the moment.

btw, karpeles told me there's no santa clause. I'm gonna sue for emotional suffering. waaaaaaaaa.

There is so much money missing though. I mean look at the numbers my god man. You don't think they can spin a few stories from some shitty unknown journalist? There's a lot of stuff going on behind the curtains. There a lot you can accomplish with half a billion dollars and more. It's not just the missing coins. That kind of stuff I can maybe see happening with that idiot at the helm. What really bothers me is the missing 100 million in the bank. Hackers got into the bank accounts and wired out that much money with nobody noticing? GTFO. I used to work for mid size bank and someone requested a 4 million dollar wire once. Do you know how many eyes that opened? Our fraud department went ape shit. I think there's a lot of players behind the scene here and were only beginning to see the first pieces being moved on the board.

Go glance over most of the satoshi threads. Posted by newbies with good knowledge about satoshi. This just feels like a paid campaign. Most of them are probably on exit nodes as well.

Indeed.  If they were, they wouldn't be in this mess in the first place.
