it depends on you how much capital you have and how much risk and reward you are comfortable with do your own research and search which suits you and invest ,
are you searching for which long term or shot term you should have mentioned that in your question without this its hard to suggest anything

Bitcoin might be a better option in my opinion due to bitcoin being less volatile, but it's better if you try it yourself and decide for yourself, as what works for me might not necessarily work for you. Also, you can do both!

Trading can work whether we're on a bearish or bullish market. For beginners? I'm not that sure. My suggestion is that you just try it yourself with a small amount, so you wouldn't be much affected by your potential losses(since you're a beginner). Expect a lot of losses while you're just starting to learn.

I suggest using Binance[1], assuming that you already have some bitcoin. If not, then I suggest grabbing some bitcoin first from LocalBitcoins[2].

Best of luck.

Hmm. a bit confusing for me as altcoins can be traded with bitcoin so I think you meant if bitcoin(or any altcoin) <-> fiat or crypto <-> crypto?

Well If I'm right, Its gotta be crypto to crypto because of its accesibility, you don't need huge amount of capital to start and you can trade without giving your personal info.
And for that, I'm recommending binance, its the most decent exchange for crypto-to-crypto right now, imo.

Lastly, my advice is to don't jump on it right away, watch the market for awhile for some background knowledge, access some cryptocurrency trading simulator and read some useful articles in the internet.

If you are a beginner has some risks trading with a bear market. You are an expert with trading, you can trade with a bear market. The https://coinmarketcap.com helps to choose a coin for trade. You can choose the top to coins for a trade. Because those coins have a good market cap and volume. Exchanges also same, you can choose top exchanges from https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges

Neither of them. You start your trading journey with practise. Demo trading, this gives you the tools to navigate in the actual market.
Experience can only be gained through live trading. But you should have the skills, strategies and basic knowledge about trading.
This would give you answers to questions such as this you asked in OP.
If you do not know which to go for then you need more practise.

In my opinion I think trading certain coins depends on how much capital you willing to invest....if you start with well known coins like btc I think you need more money to see any profits as you buy and sell, but for altcoins because price is usually based on individuals or market demand and usually these coins are under valued I think your friend should go with altcoins.

from my point of view, you should start with altcoin first. Then, you can learn more about cryptocurrency and come to bitcoin later.

Op do you mean trading bitcoin to stablecoin or fiat and trading Altcoins between themselves not involving bitcoin?
Example BTC/USDC or USDT and BTC/ EUR or USD
ETH/LTC , BCH or any other altcoin.
If this is the question you're asking, I will say you trade altcoins but it should be the ones in top 50 on CoinMarketCap. Trading below might be too risky for a newbie. Altcoin can be created within a blink of the eyes that means news ones will be created daily which are using pump and dump tokens. trading such isn't good if you want to be a serious traded. Build you strategy with the top most stable before engaging in a more risky and higher reward.

Depends what he preffers, if he choose bitcoin than he maybe need some good amount to start to get profit. If he choose altcoins is easier maybe as exchanges not ask for kyc if he trade altcoin but if he trade BTC/USD BTC/EUR BTC/GBP or any pair to fiat money exchanges ask kyc. I think is better for start to trade altcoins, and say to him to invest only money that afford to lose.

Hey i would suggest you, and your friend buy and hodl Bitcoins, rather than trade in them as they're very volatile. As you have stated he's a beginner I would suggest to trade only with a small amount, as your friend will burn his hands if he doesn't understand what he's trading in. I don't usually suggest to keep coins on exchanges, but you could try out coinbase, binnance. I would suggest you and your friend to read about people's experiences involving trading in bitcoins before you two jump in.

I think if you do not know about crypto currency, then play safe. start with bitcoin. No need to get lost in midst of thousands of Altcoins.

If your friend is a newbie, don't try to start with altcoins.  Altcoins are mostly worthless shitcoins, and many of them are scams. If your friend don't understand it, it will be easy to lose all of money.
If your friend wants to try altcoins, It is best to only choose altcoins with a market value of top10, which will be safer.

Newbies are better of trading bitcoins, as a matter of note bitcoin is the best cryptocurrency investment for newbies and experts alike.
Altcoin trading can as well be profitable, but highly risky and should only be tried when you have background knowledge and trading skills.

Buy and hold bitcoin while having altcoins, choose those that has large volume so you can trade freely and you don't have problems when you are about to sell them.

Is it a good idea to strt the trade for beginners in the bearsih market ?
Bull or bear, trading is recommended.

If so,Which is the better exchange ?
Binance/kucoin is fine.

One thing that your friend need to remind, trade only with an amount that's affordable to lose.
