Again, when you post things like this it's common courtesy to provide a link so people can read what exactly it is you heard about.  I'm interested in this topic, as I've had dealings with TD Ameritrade and would like to know the extent to which they're getting involved in crypto--and it's a bit rude for people to start threads like this only to have people required to search out information in order to give an opinion.

a tool that will give investors exposure to popular stock and options exchanges and a Bitcoin mine.
TD Ameritrade already provides the ability to buy and sell stocks and options.  I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "Bitcoin mine".  Again, a link would be very helpful here.

Here's the "relevant link".

- Some highlights:
OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- TD Ameritrade1 is once again expanding its digital reach by teaming up with Oculus Go from Facebook to provide one of the first-of-its-kind immersive learning experience for investors. TD Ameritrade formally announced this relationship at its Investor Education Conference in Las Vegas, the largest investor education conference of its kind in the industry.

“Visualization is a powerful tool because it makes abstract things seem more real,” said Sunayna Tuteja, head of strategic partnerships and emerging technologies at TD Ameritrade. “Finance is often abstract, and we’re excited to take first step in using the power of VR, combined with our expertise and knowledge, to further demystify the often complex topic of investing. We’re on a journey to break down more barriers to entry when it comes to investing in the markets, and this is one more way we can do that.”

With TD Ameritrade’s first experience on Oculus Go, investors get a real-life view of things normally inaccessible to the public – taking them inside the NYSE, the CBOE and Bitcoin mine – to give them an intimate look at the world of finance.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "Bitcoin mine".
After reading the above "press release", I'm still not sure what they meant either...

Thoughts on the initiative?
Even though their press release wasn't that in-depth, it's certainly an interesting way to attract & educate investors (it might only have a small impact [for now] but surely, a positive one).

Jesus Christ, that sounds like some of the worst techno-business-gobbledegook I've ever read in my life, and I checked the mirror for signs of complete stupidity just now and found nothing.  Shit like that could only have come out of Silicon Valley and the only purpose of such is to baffle potential investors with bullshit instead of dazzling them with brilliance.

But hey, I could be wrong.  I did not have my spectacles on when looking in the mirror just now.  Also, this is making me desperately crave a tiny sample of whatever they're smoking.

I think so as well because people are increasingly getting scared of getting scammed. But we'd need to move way beyond educating people: we must set rules to minimize the risks of fraud.
