Back in 2017 I had a goal of 1000 VTC. When the price spiked to like $8, that goal went out the window.

Now at .29 cents, 1000 VTC is only $290. I mean. Just wow.

Obviously these days, predicting where things will go is like reading tea leaves. But I’m curious people’s thoughts on Vertcoin. This once was a darling coin in this space. Destined to be a top 100 coin.

I can see coinbase adding it eventually. But for now...does this project have legs? It has its dedicated fans.

I think the reason why people lost their interest in this project due to their development and Verium.
Technically, Verium gives us nothing other than another kind of version of Vertcoin itself. While other project implemented smart contract or other stuff, Vertcoin, on the other hand, created that project that gives us nothing but Name.
I remembered when people were hyping this project 2 years ago before the pump, it can be considered as a good project because it survived for a few years.
but now? like Factom, and Dash.

Never heard of Verium. Just looked into it. That project looks deader than disco.

On CMC, Vertcoin's last 24 hour volume was $165,491. With this amount, I won't be hoping anything unless the prices will skyrocket again like the ones it did last year. There are only two options for you, cut your loss or just hold on to your dear life(HODL). Men, I hope you didn't buy majority of your VTC when it was at $8 each.

The top 50 coins, more or less than 30 of them are not mineable. I guess the mineable coins are going to really have a hard time pumping.

Do you think Vertcoin will rise again to $ 10 like last December?

It looks very attractive to investors, but I do not believe in such a growth rate.

Most coins if not all have gone down alot some are even dead so i think is a good thing that its still standing just hope devs dedicate their time on it and am sure it will make more gains but for now best idea is to hold if thats what you like

ASIC-unfriendly coin does not mean that it is impossible to create ASICs for it. It is totally possible.
And IF they're created, since there's no competing ASIC-s to mine, a 51% attack is very easy to create.
GPU-focus only works if you're as big as Monero - otherwise it's a security flaw. This results in poor fundamentals, which in turn results in zero interest from investors. And if the only interested parties are the miners (who are dumping the coin) don't expect it to rise in price.
Last year's rise was only because of reddit shilling, unless we get the same coordinated effort again I think this coin is done for. And I've mined it before.

Older alternatives such as this POW coin occasionally get randomly pumped but it hasn't been common more recently although this year if the market improves and performs better you may see some of these increase in value but it will most likely be due to new innovations so keep an eye out for the ones that will be implementing new features
