This article sums up the easiest and safe way to claim your bitcoingold. You just have to take the private keys of the wallet where your bitcoin was stored.

The problem with coinomi at the moment is that it is not yet available for iOS. I still have to claim my Bitcoin Gold for that reason, no other alternatives at the moment. But they will be, with time.

I suggest you put bitcoin on the exchange, so they'll automatically get you a fork, and you don't need to collect it yourself. It's too much hassle.

Then you should store btc on wallets basically your personal wallets as they put the free forked there, once the snapshot is done, expect the bitcoin gold putted in there, I just infer my conclusion based on the mechanisms of ethereum, not quite sure about it in a 100 percent but please comment if I'm wrong.

Bitcoin Gold has been created as a result of a hard fork of the original open-source cryptocurrency that took place on October 24, 2017. While hard forks take place for a variety of reasons including for the purposes of scaling as a crypto customer base grows, or because of developer conflict of opinions and differences of goals – BTG's stated purpose has been to "make bitcoin decentralized again.

Coinomi os already available for iOS in Mobile version.

It's a good wallet and you can use it for small amounts of funds without problems.

Easy to claim btg there.
