As you may be aware, on 25th May 2018 the General Data Protection Act was introduced in Europe to allow individuals select whether they want to be targeted by ads relevant to them or not.
WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW is that before that day, with the introduction of Apple FaceID, three companies' investment pitch were about "Smart targeting & smart FaceID".
Do you know these moments when you play a smartphone game, a video ad is playing and you're looking away or doing something else? Start-ups said, "what if we could force people to watch ads through FaceID and stop the video if they are looking away?". While this isn't in practice today, we are moving towards this practice. Companies are pushing this move.
Imagine the effects on children when forced to look at ads. They will think that ads are something normal and they will consume information without even noticing it, just like zombies. Should companies be allowed to display ads to children?
