What does pShare™ do?

pShare™ (PrivateShare) is a privacy-oriented peer-to-peer file-sharing and streaming application, linked together by Duality’s powerful BDAP™ system. Hosted on the Dynamic™ blockchain with a highly-developed UI, pShare™ allows the sharing of files privately with friends, family and colleagues, without concerns about a third party shadowing your information.

pShare™ protects privacy with a peer-to-peer network linked to a users BDAP™ account, and uses VGP™ end-to-end encryption technology, giving users exclusive authority over who they share content with. pShare™ is easy to use, integrates directly with your file explorer, and is compatible with most operating systems.

Comparable to torrents, where you can access data via other peers, but with the key difference that pShare™ offers both private and public groups for sharing information. Public groups are located on the blockchain while private groups are encrypted on the DHT (Distributed Hash Table) which is distributed across the nodes on the Dynamic™ blockchain. The blockchain is used as a network auditing mechanism which adds an extra layer of access security. pShare™ allows computers behind NATs and firewalls to connect using the same VoIP technology as large communications vendors.

Why is pShare™ needed?

Whilst cloud storage and file sharing is available from a large number of service providers, they usually all share the same flaw, centralization, which result in serious security breaches such as the ones appearing on the news ever so often.

Database breaches have become more and more common over the years, with hackers using more sophisticated methods than ever to gain access to private data, records, and other sensitive information. Cloud storage is no exception, though these attacks more often than not target individuals instead of large directories, to gain personal files for blackmail, or leaking on the internet.

The huge advantage of pShare™ over centralized storage systems is that the user retains true ownership and control of the shared files, choosing who has access to them at all times. Whether they’re going to be shared publicly, shared within a close group of friends and family, or colleagues at work, pShare™ maintains the highest standards of security through the use of VGP™, a proprietary end to end encryption standalone library created by Duality. Unlike cloud services where files are available at all times even when the user sharing those files is no longer online, with pShare™ the shared files are not available once the pShare™ application is closed, and/or the user is no longer online.

Duality will be providing demonstrations and tutorials covering all aspects of pShare™ leading up to release.

We have been operating as a blockchain development team since 2014 and as a Texas LLC since 2017, aiming to be the next-generation blockchain technology company that delivers to business services a decentralized and distributed peer-to-peer architecture that automates business processes, adds security and lowers costs.

Privacy, ownership, exchange of, and improvements in the quality of data are major issues organizations face today. These problems trigger organizations to consistently monitor how their data is stored, shared, and managed. Duality is prepared to address these problems.

Understanding the natural fit of blockchain networks and secure data management, our team at Duality provides unique solutions to these long-standing challenges by building applications on the blockchain technology of Dynamic (DYN) and our innovative new protocol, Blockchain Directory Access Protocol (BDAP).

With a focus on sectors such as healthcare, education, legal, and business services, Duality stands out from other data management systems by bringing both security and privacy to businesses. Although the underlying blockchain technology may be complex, the user experience remains familiar.

Our software solutions operate with the public blockchain of Dynamic, which offers a decentralized base level infrastructure on which cloud-like services can be run, including secure storage, sharing, and processing. Users and third parties are free to build further decentralized applications using the open APIs and can also choose to run a service in their own private enclaves called sidechains, which limit access to only selected customers, partners, or staff.

Our software suite is poised to solve critical data and identity management issues as described below:

NoID: Duality’s flagship product, NoID, connects and validates biometric data to patient records in real-time, ensuring cost-effective and accurate means of identification. Research within healthcare organizations has proven that the typical Global Patient Identifier (GPI) is vulnerable, and if compromised could grant access to protected health information (PHI). In 2016 NoID won the Concept Blitz round, and in 2017 received a Finalist Innovator award at the CHIME National Patient ID Challenge.

pShare: Duality offers a non-cloud based solution with unbeatable security, speed, and low costs, making pShare the superior option for individuals and organizations looking for a truly private, peer-to-peer file and folder sharing application. With pShare, it’s easy to privately and securely share data with friends, family and business associates. The pShare pre-release public testnet began on the 15th of June and is slated to be released by August of 2019.

pConsult: pConsult will be developed to facilitate peer-to-peer professional services with private live video and audio, secure messaging, and document exchange between participants. To protect end user privacy, pConsult uses hashed (de-identified) demographics and biometric technology to enroll participants and authenticate user sessions. VGP, as defined below, is utilized to provide live encrypted communication channels.

pSign: pSign will be a superior digital document signing and workflow management application. It will be bundled with templates, libraries, and support full automation. Costs associated with existing workflows would be decreased exponentially or removed entirely.

Duality also deploys a unique infrastructure that allows for agile and flexible application development including:

Blockchain Directory Access Protocol (BDAP): We created BDAP to offer secure programmable access control at minimal resourcing and costs. BDAP adds a layer of resource hierarchy comparable to Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) with a distributed database, account linking, and resource naming using internet standards. With BDAP, it is possible to create applications across the spectrum of industry, removing the need for servers, administrators and third parties.

Duality’s upcoming Application Program Interface (API) and Software Development Kit (SDK) will give developers access to BDAP objects, Distributed Hash Table (DHT) storage, isolate applications, and increase performance by using sidechains to host decentralized applications.

The blockchain, Dynamic, has a secondary network of incentivized nodes called Dynodes. Through dedicating their computing power to BDAP and the DHT, Dynodes receive rewards in DYN, the utility token of Dynamic.

VGP: Very Good Privacy (VGP) is an end-to-end group cryptosystem library created by Duality, providing an encryption layer beyond current Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) encryption. VGP uses public key cryptography, symmetrical encryption, Diffie-Hellman key exchange and hashing for pubkey fingerprinting.

Fluid Protocol: The Fluid Protocol is a mechanism for Duality to modify operational parameters of the network without the need for users to upgrade the software or cause interruption to the network.

About Duality

The Duality platform allows registered users to manage online wallets and view market prices. Dynamic (DYN) is the native token of the Dynamic blockchain and is needed to run transactions in all of Duality’s software solutions. DYN can be purchased at the following exchanges: Bittrex, UPbit, CryptoBridge, BlockNet, and CoinSwitch.

VGP (Very Good Privacy), a standalone end-to-end encryption library, is modeled after the PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) cryptosystem by using public key cryptography, symmetrical encryption, Diffie-Hellman key exchange and hashing for public key fingerprinting.

Duality has made the following huge improvements to PGP, developed by Phil Zimmermann all the way back in 1991:

Asymmetric key uses Curve25519 (256-bit elliptic curve key) instead of RSA (2,048–4,096-bit linear key). 256-bit ECC keys are much smaller than 2048 bit RSA keys but offer the same level or better security and the 256-bit key operations are faster as well, this allows us to save space on the blockchain and DHT.

VGP symmetric encryption uses AES-CTR, instead of PGP’s International Data Encryption Algorithm (IDEA). AES-CTR doesn’t use a static IV like other AES implementations.

VGP uses Shake256 (which is a SHA3/Keccak derivative) for hashing the pubkey into fingerprints. PGP uses SHA1 by default, but can be changed to SHA512 by the user (so SHA1 or SHA2 upgraded to SHA3+).

Modernized version of PGP. Creates a smaller header, smaller ciphertext and uses next-generation cryptography algorithms (AES-CTR vs IDEA, Curve25519 vs RSA). Can encrypt data for one or many recipients using a common AES key that encrypts the payload. Uses Diffie-Hellman key exchange to derive the ephemeral keys used for encryption.

During testing, VGP encrypted a serialized BDAP (Blockchain Directory Access Protocol) link class that was 322 bytes, and after encrypting for two recipients it only increased to 451 bytes. We need to conduct more performance tests, but we believe VGP’s resulting ciphertext will be much smaller than using PGP and should result in much faster encryption and decryption. Other cryptocurrencies use secp256k1 (a digital signature curve) to encrypt data and don’t support group (one to many) encryption as our VGP does.

VGP is a standalone library, opensource, supported on Linux/Windows/OSX and available for anyone to analyze, test and contribute towards on the Duality GitHub — https://github.com/duality-solutions/VGP

For those who wish to read the technical specification for VGP — https://github.com/duality-solutions/Documentation-and-Guides/blob/master/VGP_(Very_Good_Privacy)_E2E_Technical_Whitepaper.pdf

VGP (Very Good Privacy) is proprietary code owned by Duality and is not free to use. If you want to use the library outside of Dynamic, please contact Duality for a license.

For those that are looking to acquire Dynamic (DYN) for utilization of dApps, BDAP registration entries, the SDK, or reach 1000 Dynamic (DYN) to run their very own Dynode, head on over to Bittrex, BlockNet, CryptoBridge or CoinSwitch to get your hands on Dynamic (DYN) today.

It is particularly exciting to see the release of a beta of a product born and designed on blockchain, I'm glad to have recently discovered your project Duality and the Dynamic masternodes network, just before this first product public beta release you made in the last few days. I wish you the best and I hope to see the final pShare release soon, but I understand that you are very precise and give your best in what you do so I have the utmost confidence in your commitment.
And please don't forget to post here all the material you publish about pShare and keep this forum informed about the progress of the tests and the platform, because I think it's a product that deserves to be well known in the crypto space.
