Let me start by saying i realize that it's my own fault for putting trust in someone without knowing them, and that i'm aware that some of you will feel the need to tell me what an amateur mistake it was... That aside.

I found an add on craigs list for a 3.2 th/s miner and contacted the seller. After talking with him for several hours and doing everthing i could to make sure it wasn't a scam, we agreed on a price (in BTC) and that he would be shipping it to me first thing this morning. Luckily i only paid him half and was going to pay the other half after recieving the shipping information and tracking number. He even continued to talk to me for another couple hours after i paid him the btc, via text message. At that point there was no doubt in my mind about the seller. I figured everthing was in the clear and that i was going to have 3.2 th/s more speed in my mining farm. Why would a scammer be such a conversationalist after getting what they were after? Still doesn't make sense to me... But here i am about 24 hours later without a single word from him today and a couple btc gone with nothing to show for it.

My question is.. Is there anything i can do to salvage this situation? I have his personal email address and cell phone number. The transaction is in the blockchain... Or is this just a tough luck, move on thing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Is he residing in your country? If I was in your situation, I would make a copy of all the communication (mail communication where he mentions his btc address and about the deal) you had with the scammer and threaten him with police complaint. You can also threaten to publicly shame him with all his personal details if you can get thru his phone number with some effort. You can even go to press.

File a report with your local police but it's doubtful they'll be able to do much. The phone could be just a pay as you go that he uses for scamming.

You can post in the Scam accusations and Google his personal info to find out who he is.
