Hey there,

I am currently brainstorming for my Bitcoin Project, and I was thinking of a full-scale trading market for Bitcoins. So I'm not talking about a subsection like on this site, but a forum dedicated to personal trading, with escrows and more, all on one site. I haven't seen any real succesful site that does this, so it looks like a good idea to me.

However, I know there are people out there who are way more intelligent and who have other or better ideas, so I'd love to here them! What do you think the community needs to evolve the whole Bitcoin deal?

Thanks Smiley.

Heh, no Smiley. I don't mind having something in the 'grey' area, but I'm not going to do anything related to drugs or guns.

Maybe a p2pMarket based on it's own blockchain ? You will be the first to make one if you like the idea

Hmm, that actually sounds quite interesting. However I'm wondering what you mean exactly with basing it on it's own blockchain. Wouldn't a simple bitcoin-version of Ebay based on a web of trust (including user ratings) work?

Exactly, the programmer would use the blockchain database style for all back-end storage of information (namecoin for example) He can use standard JSON or anything he likes.
The heavy lifting would be done by the GUI by sorting and filtering of all kinds of info from the local blockchain (data example)
Can be a perfect copy of the actual OTC market with the only difference it's decentralized Wink
You can build lot of stuff around a working model of that... digital ID creation assisted by the software, public or private PGP chat, fees for every listing sent to the network to incentive ppl "mine the blockchain", you name it...

Perhaps the actual software itself is the area that is lacking in development. Many ideas but not much going forward it seems.

I'd like someone to write and make available a script that displays the fixed $ price of an item in BTC.  There was a good one that was being used in the goods section in threads, but it was taken down.

Yes, this is a really good idea - I'm working on something similar and looking for collaborators.
