Bitcoin and art are profitable investments, both of which benefits the owner. Usually paintings or other art goods that are made a profitable investment are art goods that made by legendary artist and have high artistic value. In 1958, the price of Salvator mundi painting by leonardo Davinci is $60 then it was sold at around $450 million in 2017. Curators can find out valuable art goods, its not only about promoting BTC via art but buying art using bitcoin is indeed apropriate.

I really don't see the value in a painting like the one shown in the OP, then again I really don't know anything about art Tongue

It's just like Bitcoin. Its worth whatever anyone is willing to pay for it.  Smiley

Lincoln Townley, one of the leading British contemporary art figures (called "the new Andy Warhol"), just sold a collection of paintings for 490 BTC. He is accepting Bitcoin for his works since 2017, when he sold a painting for an equivalent of ca. $500 k.
To be honest, this is a great way of promoting BTC to the public.

And if anyone asked - in the picture here: https://imgur.com/dd0giBl you can see some of his paintings combined;).

This Lincoln Townley must have already earned the admiration of art enthusiasts. An artist of lesser popularity would find it next to impossible to sell a painting collection for 490 BTC. At the current price, that is already a whooping 4,980,850‬ USD. Although very from being an art connoisseur myself, I was kind of amazed at the price vis-à-vis the artwork.

The likes of this man accepting BTC for their works is indeed a great way of spreading the word within an almost exclusive niche. Small individual initiatives like this will make an ocean of BTC supporters flowing in.

Geez, that amount was shocked me. I never thought that his paintings would have an expensive price.

But that is a good way to introduce bitcoin to the public since, in the art section, we have so many collectors who want to buy the antique collection. And I think we can promote bitcoin using the same way as him. $500k is not small money, and I believe he deserves to get that money.

I remember someone from this forum who genuinely promoting different cryptocurrency through painting but I forgot what is his name. He's selling his artwork for BTC but I don't know if someone buy his artwork after that.
Yes, it is a good way to promote cryptocurrency through painting since people will recognise it if offered publicly.
I just commented about "PBOY" Pascal Boyart maybe that's the guy that you have seen before. Check his profile account, the postings he had on Digital goods and Collectibles were about his artworks.

He was also featured in many news articles like this.

This is fantastic, the good thing about this is that: the buyers and persons present are the auction and exhibition will be amazed and want to research more about bitcoin. 490BTC is huge. Should he keep these bitcoin and bitcoin hits $20K again, then the artist has a great story line to tell the world.

I was thinking that this thread is about someone doing art about tc and crypto.
Instead it is about selling art with crypto, this is a good business decision from artist because he allows special customer base also to buy his paintings.
Some of them can have alternative motives ( money loundering) but i suppose buying art with cash is the same.

That's more like it! This is the real promotion and a very sophisticated one. I like it!
Yep, the first time I saw it. I already liked his art.

I'm a big fan of interactive art like this, heck if the artist accepted donations, I'd definitely send him something for his trouble!
Actually he's also in this forum in the Digital goods section and he posted recently, you may contact him anytime you want.

Hey Sunsilk, thanks for the quote!

Will come again very soon with similar works.

Can't say exactly he is doing it for the sake of bitcoin but still good, want or not, it's automatically promoting of bitcoin. But the reason why I post here is that there are better ways of promoting bitcoin and some of our forum's members were doing that, so don't want them to be forgotten. For example Condoras was printing bitcoin puzzles and selling them (don't know if he still has that business). Also some members were just creating creative bitcoin arts and lot more.

It would be a great idea if a marketplace would exist where art can be bought with bitcoin.
People are very interested in art and it is a great way of promoting our decentralized idea. Townley was very clever to accept Bitcoins for his work and it was totally worth it considering to the amount he received.

And it has to be stressed, that the fact he is already well known is having much more potential influence on public adoption of BTC than the "regular" person. Of course the amount only makes it more catchy to the mass media.

To be honest he really is famous, especially for the series of portraits of celebrities (and even Queen Elisabeth herself), which had been REALLY popular.

BTC can be changed to dollar and the dollar is money. So except he is the guy that would keep the bitcoin then he is just like making the payment accessible for more people and if that's the case he is just after his own

He will introduce bitcoin to the public with his work, and I am sure he can reach more people to enjoy his collection. Maybe someday we will see people can buy the art with bitcoin because it needs approval from the government although he already did it since 2017. The truth is he help the bitcoin, and the bitcoin will help him too Wink

The public will see that bitcoin can be used as the payment, and it does not just stop for buying art, but it could be used to other things.

Bitcoin may become alternate payment just like CC or paypal.
Using btc as payment also encourage people to invest as well so that's why government play the important role to introduce bitcoin in public widely

It's amazing combination !

Wow, that is a good way to go there, I think this is the first I will be seeing of someone really accepting huge amount of money through bitcoin, we need more of such transaction to keep going because this will continue to create lots of demand for the coin. He is indeed a talented man, I love painting like it's my life and if I even had money to donate to him, I would do so without buying the paintings and even after buying the paintings.

I think the acceptance of bitcoin is also growing, I am building my clothing line now, and would be ready in some few months, I am already working on how I can also implement bitcoin payment processor, just looking for the best API provider now that would make the  process smooth and steady.
