What are the general rules of ETH token airdrops?

I have a few ETH addresses and in the last years I've been getting some random tokens out of nowhere, which occasionally amount to $3-5 each. I'm thinking, is it possible to farm such airdrops by creating lots of ETH addresses? So, my question is, what are the conditions for those airdrops? Do I need to have a certain amount of ETH on my addresses, or just have a transaction history with some volume, and do tokens play any role?

Edit: this is not a question about the airdrops where you have to register to receive tokens, I'm asking about airdrops that just send tokens to existing addresses without even asking the owners.

Well i do have some random or unknown airdrop tokens as well, their does not seem to be any criteria they just send to random eth wallet addresses but please understand they do not send to all the eth wallets its just a random number so your new wallet may or may not get the airdrop secondly my personal experience is not good as i have only received useless and worthless tokens only.

I also received 2 tokens in very small quantity some months ago, but those 2 tokens don't have any value.

The thing I tried to remember that if I have participated in the bounty campaigns for those 2 tokens, but I found I've never participated in bounty campaigns.

Airdrop abusers can answer this question easily. There is no free money in this sector and applying to new bounty campaigns can give same earnings as joining the airdrop.

I have had this kind of thing last year. But, it was $25, not $3-5 (probably different amounts according to ETH's price). Anyway, I have no idea why it was sent, but it is likely to be airdrop.

This phenomenon mostly occurs in projects that send dividends In form of airdroppers tokens to its ICO investors. In some other cases, project developers may choose to reward all active ethereum address on the blockchain by taking a snapshot before sending the coins

Maybe you are luckier because the Airdrop tokens you get have a sale value. I also got a token that did not know where it came from, but until now the token cannot be sold. I think this is because they want to promote their tokens.

Could you share some details, please? Like what token it was and approximately how much ETH did you have? I have ETH address with 0.1 ETH and the other with 0 ETH and some token, and I have received roughly 1000 XBASE tokens on both, which are currently worth around $5 per 1000 tokens.

Red tagged for what? Creating ETH addresses and receiving free money randomly? What's next, going to jail for collecting rain water?

Each airdrop has a different rule. Airdrops should be just tokens sent without work in return, but today some airdrops have many rules.

There are eth tokens airdropped even without participating their airdrop program like ACC, WHALE, AZ and many others. So there are no rules about getting such. They just sent it to random addresses I believe. But you are lucky if there is a certain value with the amount of tokens you received because most of them are worthless. Not even worth sending to an exchange. Maybe, they just want to distribute their tokens and create "adoption". But for legit airdrops, there are things you need to do like following their social media channels or wearing their sigs. And by the way, the OP is a Hero Member so you should know better.

This process is disgusting imo.

Sending airdrops without permission is not considerable or without participating any bounty.
If those tokens have value then peoples may be happy but it is not... When I check my addy in etherscan or ethplorer I always get angry when I see useless tokens in my portfolio.

Some may need you to have balance on youe eth address but usually airdrops don’t ask for this one. You are planning to abuse the airdrops and I think its not good because you will suffer on that later on and if the manager saw that action for sure you will face consequences, you’re a hero member already better to protect your account well.

You will never know what are those airdrops that will do the marketing through sending in different ETH addresses. This is popular but I don't think it's going to be effective for the advertisers if they will do it this way. And I think if you will just create a lot of it, how can they know that those addresses exists? what I think those addresses that received random tokens were the ones who signed up or posted their eth address somewhere, maybe here in the forum, social medias or elsewhere.

Okay, I've set up an experiment: I've made a small script that created 20 ETH wallets, then sent 0.001 ETH to each. Now I'll wait to see if my "rainwater barrels" will receive any airdrops in the next months. If I'll get anything, I'll report it here. I think I'm taking a risk here, cause if ETH fees will skyrocket, my funds will get locked, because it will require more gas to move those etheres than they are worth. Basically, I've gambled 0.02 ETH hoping to get some random tokens in return. Let's see how it plays out.

Wen I see such tokens drop in my wallet, I just wonder if they fell from the sky. My brother, you need to know such tokens for you to know their requirements. May be they are spirit tokens on airdrop.. Hahahaha

I think this approach is not right i will suggest you to participate in bounty campaigns if you are looking for decent rewards, personally i will not support your idea i do not think it will bring any results either.

Not sure how this happen and how they would choose the participants on their airdrop .
I don't really receive some airdrops in my wallet unless I participate in their website or register for it.
But I remember that I receive one but it doesn't really have a value .

I can't say for sure the reason why we receive unknown tokens but I believe it all started when I started participating in so many airdrops, I actually participated in over 150 airdrops and I believe this is the reason why I receive unknown coin from a platform that I have participated in the airdrop before time but never sent the coin until months after then we begin to believe that an airdrop is sending tokens to random address which I don't believe it is possible since you are never going to receive any token in your wallet if you haven't participated in airdrop before.

I also once got it, I think it has something to do with the previous project that we have followed and finally we get airdrop because in the previous project we gave our wallet address. or maybe it was given randomly because the airdrop team and eth wallet also worked together?
