I have coins that have been sitting on an old Galaxy S5 in Bitcoin Wallet v 6.41. This version does not seem to be upgradeable anymore.

I have loaded Bitcoin Wallet v 7.11 on a newer Galaxy S9, but when I try to send the coins, it tells me that the address is invalid.

I don't keep up with Bitcoin to be honest, so I'm not sure what is going on. I haven't touched these coins for over 3 years.

Advice?

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.

What bitcoin wallet is this? If you mean this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.schildbach.wallet you can export its private keys and you can import them to electrum so you can be able to spend them.

You just have to follow this one(link below) written by its developer

Don't do that. You can just Bluetooth the backup of the wallet across.

On the old phone go to safety and backup, get a password to use and Bluetooth it across to the other phone. Once you restore it on the new phone it'll find the funds and use the new address version.

Oh, I see. The format of addresses changed. OK that makes sense. Thanks.

I just checked it on my phone, you get the old addresses and then new segwit ones.

Ahh, if you did want to sent it (on the new phone), you can click settings and "request to legacy address".

Then scan the qr code on the old phone. If you're not in a rush, select options and "network fee">"economic" (optionally). Then select empty wallet to empty your wallet and send everything across.

But importing the backup might be nicer.
