Chinese Police Arrest Malware Developers Who Hacked $2 Million in Crypto

The developers are responsible for hacking millions of computers to hack a total of $2 million in cryptocurrencies.
Computers were initially infected with a mining program and a mining monitoring software — whenever the latter detected CPU utilization below 50%, the former would silently start mining in the background. The cycle was repeated endlessly, with all the proceeds being sent back to the hackers.

The security team at Tencent Keeper Program has been credited for alerting authorities to the hack. Back on January 3, the team first detected a game plug-in containing a Trojan horse program. The operation ran uninterrupted for 2 years during which it mined more than 26 million coins — a mix between DigiByte (DGB), Decred (DCR), and Siacoin (SC), — totaling more than 15 million Chinese yuan.

The question is every single year hackers make tons of money of people in crypto, I must say I congratulate the Chinese authorities but can this hackers be stopped? What are other countries doing to reduce or stop hackings from doing what they do best or rather since its cryptocurrency they Dont care?

This is a heart warming development and the clampdown on these hackers needs to be intensified. It's really giving a bad image to the crypto space. He should be jailed and made to refund all he stole.

Hackers are getting better and better every single day which are unstoppable actually. We have to be very very careful to our crypto wallets since we are the one who are responsible for protecting. If only there are special units to register just to find hackers and to push anti hacker program.

Those hackers cannot be stopped but the stolen fund can be traced in most cases before they are liquidated. But there is usually enough time for hackers.

I'm surprised at the choice of coins that they are mining for. Digibyte malware mining is unheard of, usually they will pick monero instead. Good that they got arrested though, and the hackers won't be able to dump their coins

Appreciate the share but this wont deserve a merit.

Hackers to be stopped? No it wont happen as long we are on a world where money do flows in where there are people who would took advantage into those things which they can able to get or generate money without much effort. They do have the intellect or knowledge which can be used where most people arent awared of.Good thing there are people or authiorities who do tried up to trace them.Good job actually but expect there are still people who lurks in the dark.

Very correctly done. Now the crypto currency market has become a little bit safer and in the future I think this case will serve as a lesson for all crypto currency hackers. I would like to note that the protection of crypto currency services from hacker attacks has intensified in the last few months.

Thank you Chinese government for proving that blockchain technology scammer are been cut and arrested. We are having serious downwards trend since January because of how people are afraid to invest into icos and cryptocurrencies and this is due to how people are scamming, stealing and hacking people investments without being arrested.

America and most developed countries has spent millions if not billions of dollars in fighting hackers but we have been seeing them coming out in another ways . I have  be following the issues since the beginning of this year and it is increasing day by day in the crypto space.  Binance was hacked a week ago and we have read here "cryptopia shut down because of hacking", and some little hacking activities "here and there" and it is good we should keep SMOKEU's advice of trying to securing our system from this "hacking activities".

Yeah the truth is that hackers will always keep hacking since that is what makes them better, that aside, how were you able to find a topic like this that was created over a year ago when the op who created the topic has forgotten that anything of this nature exists over here or maybe the op is not in this earth anymore, please it is very important to check the date a topic was created before making any reply, just make sure it is a recent post.
