Exactly 9 years ago on May 22, 2010, the most expensive pizza order and delivery took place when a guy named Laszlo Hanyecz purchased two pizzas from Papa John’s for 10,000 Bitcoin (BTC) now worth around $78 million. An amazing and mesmerizing story that is celebrated annually and immortalized the man and the pizza as part of colorful and sometimes controversial Bitcoin history. While others can be mocking the man, we should appreciate what he did because that was the baptism of fire for bitcoin as a currency.

Till date thinking about this gives me shivers. This should go into Guinness Book of world records. This is why I am always telling everyone do underestimate the power of Bitcoin. I got this "happy Bitcoin Pizza Day" notif in my email through some exchanges, I see it in my twitter timeline on my facebook and when I think I can safely browse bitcointalk to read some post I stumble into it again.
I mean I'm happy that Laszlo makes the first move to buy pizza using bitcoin, but says that the pizza worth $78 million is bit misleading I think.
Some blog don't even bother to check the fact and just make an article about it


Edit: do you think a pirate in the past who use to buy beer using gold coin will say that the beer he buys wort what the gold price by now? I don't think so right?

There was an exactly the same thread created yesterday. I'm still wondering how's the pizza owner's life has changed right after he knew that bitcoin could go this far. If I were that guy, I will be in shocked and will still be grateful for having such amount of bitcoins.

Hearty wishes for the people who hodl big funds at the pizza buying time. If anyone holder 100 BTC at that time it will make them millionaire and great life with that fund.

Lucky are those who have been holding btc during the early times. However, if ever we are aware in the existence of BTC before but we don't know how it works, I'm sure that most of us will doubt about it. Lucky are those who took all the risks years ago and just like the pizza owner, they're surely already living a good life now.
