I'm not sure what you want to know. The best Bitcoin wallets are not backed by companies. Imho they are Bitcoin core and Electrum, with some other strong competitors close behind.
The best ones that are backed by companies come with hardware wallets - the biggest one being Trezor and Ledger.

If you have budget and you can avail to have a hardware wallet, I reckon the suggestion of using Ledger[1] and Trezor[2]. Ledger has new kind of wallet that has bluetooth technology and it's the ledger nano x but I'm still using ledger nano s.

For desktop wallet, you just need to download the lite wallet and favorite of all, electrum. Be careful also when downloading, always check if the website is the legit ones and see if the spelling is correct.

Most Bitcoin wallets is created and or maintained by the community, except maybe Electrum which has its own company (Electrum Tech). However, in reality,, it's just Thomas and the gang who update and fix the bug via GitHub, so essentially it's maintained by our community.

I'm curious though, do you even know what is "wallet software company", or are you trying to say software wallet like Electrum, Wasabi etc?

There is no companies,only they were creating interface to interact with blockchains,different wallets might have different security features for entering into that interface,any wallet is good to use when you own the private keys.Remember online wallets like Coinbase are not giving any private keys in our control so you need to learn difference of private keys and passwords.

I think the op means wallet brands . Brands are also consider a company because they own it  . @op there were lots of bitcoin wallet out there and i believe your looking for the online ones ?  I can recomend electrum ,blockchain , coinbase  , mycelium , coinomi ,myetherwallet  .  There were to many to mentions but those wallets are more familliar to me  .

If you have enough time and enough space on your pc, use bitcoin core. On the other hand, if you are running out both space and time, you can use electrum. That's easy and take minutes to install.
