Data is the raw material of the current information-driven economy . it makes total sense that the most valuable companies are data companies .An information broker or data broker collects information about individuals from public records driving records, user-contributed material to social networking sites then sell the data to other organizations that use them mainly to target advertising and marketing towards specific group.
A blockchain-based, decentralized data marketplace protect  data from stolen by data brokers and give o the right to own your data and make profit from it ,such as Wibson ,what else?

Agreed.  The current top merit earners on this forum are the ones that make raw data readable (me, loyceV, piggy)...

What would happen if Theymos agreed with your subject (Own your data) and stopped making the data public?

A good portion of his traffic right now is probably due to page views other than posts...

Are you trying to shill Wibson?
Actually, there are several ICO who aims to achieve this 'goal'. For example, Unification, Datum, Databloc, etc. All of them offer a way for people to manage their data and get profits from it. I don't know about Wibson except that their token is already tradable in various exchanges.

How come we completely that any ICO whoever required KYC on crowdsale, bounty and all other sign up the project. There are more possibilities to find our data released the information broker or data collection center. For example, vod said if theymos think like that what will happen. LOL that is funny. Already Google, whatsapp, facebook and other big giants doing data pulling silently. I hope whoever respect their work or business will never do that. We have such trustworthy people on this forum too.

Hi! Currently blockchain technology is disrupting many traditional processes and systems in the world, presenting the possibility of removing intermediaries in areas such as the one you have raised - data. This means data production, data sharing, data dissemination and more. One sector that comes to mind is the retail/e-commerce industry where customers/shoppers like me enter my details (email, name, address, payment details etc.) every time I make a purchase. Or even social media accounts like FB, Instagram etc. especially as the system remembers your preferences e.g. what kind of videos/photos you like, how long you watch it for etc.

The problem with this is that I don't own my data - most people probably aren't conscious of the digital trail they leave behind when they surf the internet - and huge companies like FB are vulnerable to data breaches/hacking, where such personal data can be stolen and this has been proven true. Blockchain developments in this case is great for businesses and individuals like you and I to secure and actually own personal data - if via a smart contract the terms are set for me to share my data as a user, and businesses are required through the smart contract to pay me for the data I provide directly, this would possibly eliminate the need for data brokers/intermediaries that sometimes charge exorbitantly high fees on their data (and we don't even know if the owner of the data willingly allowed it to be shared/sold)

Last week I came across an interesting project that is intending to solve this problem of data ownership! What do you think about this?

Internet is the data highway, and is the decision of the users what data share and what data keep to their self, some data is nice to have it public and others should be private. For example, Bitcoin code and the white paper, if that where not public bitcoin would never exist, but private keys was made to not be shared.

hey! i've actually never heard of Unification and Datum, but i just checked them out at your mention. I was actually looking at BlockCart (BCART) - and no, not another shilly ico project afraid to do their ico because of the bear market. Are there a lot of these?
