Warning: It is highly likely that Lootbits.io is utilizing its users' machines resources to mine cryptocurrencies without their consent or knowledge.

I reached that conclusion based on my experience, because every time I visit that shady website my laptop works at full speed and sometimes overheats. and when I close it everything goes back to normal.

It's not my laptop. I have a decent one. and that doesn't happen with other websites. Even if I open dozens of tabs it doesn't happen. only when I visit Lootbits.io

The mining process probably gets activated when you click on the popup messages they show you whenever you do anything on their website (for example: when you claim your free gems) or perhaps it just starts automatically after you spend several minutes on their website.

Site is likely a scam since it has a high withdrawal minimum of 0.049 BTC. Just like you, I also experienced some minor lags while trying to scroll page down. Site is just online to make people view ads and complete task in their offerwall and scam them off.

Any bitcointalk link about their service?

There's two thread about lootbits here but yours seems to be a good one not to use their websites anymore, besides the very high withdrawal which you can only reach if you have tons of referrals under you, I stopped doing this after I found that very high threshold because I'm not good in referring.

Collecting lots of gems is easy, but the thing is their value decreases as your balance grows.

I managed to reach the highest level and got to 69% without taking surveys or referring a single person. So I can get hundreds of gems daily, but the amount of rewards I get decreases as I progress, and despite that I was willing to continue playing their game to the end, but now that I know they're abusing my machine. I'm not willing to do that anymore.

My point is, you don't need to do any referring to get the benefit of that which is gaining lots of gems, but even if you do have thousands of gems, you probably won't reach the threshold in months, if ever.

I don't think they are mining but the high load is because of too many ads as this happen with me whenever I use a site that have a high number of ads.

Given that they're using every way they can to gain profits from their traffic (Ad views, surveys, referral links... etc) It's obvious that they would consider mining too, especially when you know that other similar sites offer mining as one of the ways to get credit. popspins.com for example. same business model. another website to skip.

I don't even see any ads on their front page, which is the most prominent source of income for most faucets.

It's very likely that they're mining in the background and I would certainly not discount that as a possibility.

The fact that it's so easy to build up your balance, and there are mechanisms that essentially try to suck you into the endless cycle of slaving away for them (both your computing power and your labour), along with a high withdrawal threshold should be a sign enough that they have absolutely no intentions of paying anyone out.

What's the point of using them then even if they did not mine in secrecy?

I agree on that, they are not mining but there a lot of pop-ups that you need to close and this is normal for a faucet like LOOTBITS, but I don't consider them legit as you cannot earn if you are going to do it alone as the payout is very high, you have to complete their premium offer to get more points.

They don't need to run ads on their front page. they'd rather keep it clean to attract users to signup, then they would show them ads on ALL pages.

The fact that it's so easy to build up your balance, and there are mechanisms that essentially try to suck you into the endless cycle of slaving away for them (both your computing power and your labour), along with a high withdrawal threshold should be a sign enough that they have absolutely no intentions of paying anyone out.

You're exactly right.

I'm just curious to know what the withdraw button does. haha. I just want to click it and see what will happen.

Their ToS clearly states that no one will get paid any kind of real money. it's just a game. you can only use your credit for gambling on their website. the credit has no value. it's just a number.

With that said you would think that they're honest and transparent. that they're not bluffing anyone. BUT there is a section where you put your Bitcoin address to receive your payment after you reach the threshold. so I would assume that they're not as honest as one might think. they're probably liars. They're contradicting themselves!

Lootbits is not a faucet.

I quote the following from their ToS page:
"The Website serves as an online based game".
"The credits and balances on the Website are intended to be used on internal features of the Website."
"None of credits, balances or other rewards on the Website have real monetary value. User balances do not place the Website under an obligation and can be changed or nullified by the Website at any time and without prior notice."

but I don't consider them legit as you cannot earn if you are going to do it alone as the payout is very high, you have to complete their premium offer to get more points.

You cannot earn anyway as I cleared above, though collecting points is easy. Here's a screenshot of my account right now:
https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/d617/ixyao030pp6hl35zg.jpg?size_id=8

Believe it or not, I didn't complete any offer. didn't invite anyone. did it all by myself collecting free gems and opening boxes on a daily basis. it takes about 10-15 days to reach the highest level. from there you start to get 35 points/gems/boxes per hour + another 5 from the daily poll + another 75 from the daily clicking target (which you can do by yourself). and if you're lucky you can get an extra 420 playing one of their gambling games (Jungle). so as you can see it's easy to get several hundred points everyday.

But the thing is no matter how many points you have. you'd have to spend months (3 months at least) to reach the WORTHLESS threshold, because they determine how much credit you get. they control everything.
You know the popular saying: "the house always wins"? well that applies to this kind of websites too. They make you believe that you're winning, only to benefit themselves eventually.

If it's too good to be true, it probably is.
