It isn’t often that a country’s leader has the limelight taken away from them during their inauguration ceremony but that is exactly what happened to newly-elected South African president Cyril Ramaphosa on his swearing-in event on Friday when his son decided to wear Bitcoin-themed socks.

The son of South Africa’s president, Tumelo Ramaphosa, somehow managed to look fashionable with the rather noticeable socks sporting the orange Bitcoin logo. But apparently, this is not the first time he has been caught showing off Bitcoin wear...

...the young man claims to have found Bitcoin in 2010 and has been working on plans of digitization of cattle ownership and other assets for locals through the StudEx startup in a bid to fight rising prices of livestock and rare animals. He also plans to help launch a blockchain-focused university for young entrepreneurs in South Africa.

I think that the bitcoin community has a strong and influential support in the person of Tumelo Ramaphosa which can mean a lot for the promotion and adoption of bitcoin in South Africa. We are hoping that this publicity is just the start for a colorful and successful history of bitcoin in this country. Go go go South Africa...

They had a interesting talk with him, here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2My-ELpI4c

It is no secret that he wants to link nature conservation with Cryptocurrency and that he is invested in this technology. Here he is seen wearing a Bitcoin hat, https://citizen.co.za/news/south-africa/1997333/entering-a-different-digital-world-with-tumelo-ramaphosa/

It is no guarantee that he would have influence over the decision makers and regulators via the president of that country.  Roll Eyes Politics are a very peculiar thing.  Roll Eyes

Yeah, I understand what you mean, politics is just like the weather that can be changing its direction anytime. However, compared to ordinary guys like me this guy has more chances in pushing his crypto-related endeavors in his own country. Let's hope that more and more people will get into bitcoin in South Africa.

Not the most surprising thing.

Bitcoin is huge in South Africa. If you check google trends for bitcoin, almost always it is South Africa that shows the most interest.

Still plausible yet hes the son of South Africas president which it would be neither an influential thing or not with his Father's decisions or views towards Bitcoin.
I agree that political decisions do really changes from time to time depending or according to their likes but its good to know on what are the things been done
by his Son when it comes to Bitcoin exposure.

They can use the compact African banking system for that way more effectively. African leaders also have a high level of preference for precious metals and diamonds, and I'm sure they have plenty of that hidden somewhere.

At the end of the day, these government level individuals have a tremendous impact on what's happening there, so it's more positive for Bitcoin than negative, which I'll settle for.

We have had enough governmental trashing the last couple of years, so it's good to see that Bitcoin is slowly but surely popping up in every corner of the world. The Bitcoin virus will eventually take over the world. Smiley

unfortunately Africa is a continent that shames the world, African politicians are corrupt and dictators. even in countries such as South Africa where there is no apparent dictatorship, their people have been brainwashed forever to vote in the ANC because they think they can only survive with the ANC, but the ANC is full of corruption.

This is a good promotion, but South Africa has politicians with retarded thoughts like most African politicians, so do not expect anything good coming from African politicians

He's thankful for his country's economical growth? What growth?

These leeches have done more harm than good and still suck up money that should have been invested in education, healthcare, infrastructure, etc. It's not for nothing that the economies of African countries are just a pile of rubbish, and as long as the corrupt government elites care more about themselves than their country, this will continue.

I hope that the thing they 'promote' by wearing socks of it will suck up their power and give it back to the people.
