I did ask in CGMINER but it was removed and since I am new here I guess this is the next best place to
pst the help I need:

Reading up on solo mining and I am just curious about the syntax

cgminer   put in arguments then username password

If I am doing this on a windows box then does any username and password work?
Or do I have to go into user account and create a account example  BOB and give BOB account a password or
does cgminer not look at that and uses its own http authentication and just use any username and password on the fly?

I did glance over the proper syntax but no idea at all on username and password.

cgminer -o http://localhost:8332 -u username -p password --btc-address 15qSxP1SQcUX3o4nhkfdbgyoWEFMomJ4rZ

So can I keep it as localhost or change it to 192.168.1.1:8332  (in the windows world it should be the same no?

Does CGMINER use windows authentication?   If so then I must create a new account

So far I think the following is correct:
cgminer -o http://localhost:8332 -u default -p password1 --btc-address 33-put my address here-ozSsU

Since you've specified "localhost:8332" you must have a local Bitcoin node (Bitcoin Core) in your PC?
This wasn't mentioned but it also needs to be fully synced to work;
then do this:

SOLO MINING
-snip-
To enable solo mining, one must be running a local
bitcoind/bitcoin-qt or have one they have rpc access to. To do this, edit your
bitcoind configuration file (bitcoin.conf) with the following extra lines,
using your choice of username and password:

rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password

Restart bitcoind

Based from that quote, the "username" and "password" are your "rpcuser" and "rpcpassword" (after the =).
I haven't tried solo mining since it's not recommended, so you have to figure out the rest.

The local bitcoin core wallet doesn't support solo mining anymore.
So even if your syntax is correct for cgminer, it will never work.

Right, the post in your link said:
-snip-
Cgminer can, but it is only designed to support ASIC mining hardware.
-snip-
Means it can (but the post was from 2015) Tongue
The 1st part means that the node cannot do the mining anymore since usually, full nodes have a built-in feature for solo mining.
But since Bitcoin became non-CPU/GPU friendly, they've taken out the feature.

@inachu Care to tell us your goal and available hardware(s)?
I'm sure it's not for profit unless you have a Big ASIC farm.
