I still use steemit although it sucks nowadays with the numerous ads. I also recommend publishox and golos. Golos app is great, give it a try.  By the way, steemit is not dead, things just got messy with the platform.
it just becomes uninteresting to users but has not died yet. time will come and it will not exist at all

A few months ago Steam it laid off 70% of their employees as the company is struggling to meet their financial goals. We all know its dead. Is there any better alternative? And do you think such alternatives can survive?

Actually I have registered in steemit since last year but I stop opening it since I don't know what's the future of the site. There are many alternatives like doing freelance jobs or investing in real estate.

Don't you use an adblocker? Why would anyone browse the internet without using an adblocker?
Just checked how Steemit.com looks without one and yeah, it's quite terrible.

Should really mention that to the core team, because those ads are indeed terribly obnoxious!

Uhm what? You talk about freelance jobs and investing, but that's not what Steem is about. It's about blogging in the first place and you can still run a successful blog on Steem.
Heck, I'm currently earning a decent living by doing just that.

I don't mind it when people criticize Steemit, but at least write more than 1 sentence. Now it just looks like you're trying to increase your post count.
Have some discussion at least...

Steemit might not be dead but I feel sorry to write that in my view, its end is almost near.

Have you tried SNAC? Its one of the most powerful social media dapps launched by a Korean giant blockchain company Futurepia (a native EOS competitive blockchain)

When I say powerful, here is what I mean:

- Available on all the platforms: Android, iOS, Website

Google Play: http://bit.ly/30BwvsN
iOS App Store: https://apple.co/2HoJ6rW
Website: https://snacpia.io

- Users can create groups and communities

- Users can post Text stories, Photos, Videos and can even write long articles

- People can bet on content (first time this feature is introduced in any social media platform)

- People can vote for their favorite content and receive rewards for it.

- There are rewards for even LIKING a post & voting.

- You can make almost $100 for creating  a group and increasing its members upto 100

and many more...

Check out this article on HackersNoon on Why SNAC can be the next Steemit Killer

As for me steemit is a slow develpoment platform. Crypto investors are not waiting till a single plattform is ready.

So by far, seeing people's comment, here are the alternatives to Steemit that seem to be more popular among people.

a) SNAC
b) Sapien
c) Publis0x
d) Sphere
d) Dtube

What do you think is the best among these?

Many companies on blockchain also cut off their employees due to the huge market downturn cycle. Because to maintain the project, the projects will have to do so to survive
Which is not a bad thing to do and the first step to take, cutting all form of expenses that may make them go bankrupt when they are having little challenges that still got the chance of being solved overtime.

This industry is one that is full of competitors, they might enjoy the monopoly when they are still the first and only one in that line, but the moment you start seeing people compete with them, it tends to reduce their power and their function, and the best would be to re-strategic which is not a day job, so there is nothing they would have done than to cut lots of expenses fist, I believe that Steemit will rise again.

Well that is your opinion . As for me Steemit is still love and vibrant. I make use of Steem it on daily basis , got no complaint , their service is quite effective compare to other platform though the bearish market burned almost platform operating on Cryptocurrency but that does not make Steemit dead. Steemit is one of my best Blogging site apart from Medium .
