Hi - years back I was a very active member here, during the time when Casascius and Lealana were selling physical bitcoins.  My account on this forum ended up getting compromised and permabanned, because someone got access to my account and started doing who knows what.  I asked for a reinstatement of my old account but that never got me anywhere.  Anyway, after losing my account I've been basically off the forum for years now, but I have over 10 BTC in physical coins I want to redeem.  I know I can use bitcoin core to redeem them, but I wonder if there are any newer, easier ways to redeem the old physical coins?

Also, as these are older BTC coins, I know they can also be redeemed for bitcoin cash, bitcoin gold, and all the other BTC hard forks since.  Does anyone know of any easy methods to redeem so many different coins?

You can redeem the BTC from your physical coin you just need to peel out the sticker on the back to find the private key.
You can use it to redeem your BTC and other fork coins but you should make sure to transfer BTC first before you import the private key to the different wallets to take other fork coins.

Watch this video guide on redeeming BTC from the physical coin.

Also, I suggest you redeem the fork coins one by one and don't forget to start on major fork coins to redeem like BCH before you redeem the other fork coins.

If you want to take your fork coins on the single wallet I think you can use coinomi wallet. Look at this guide below.

How about putting them up for sale over in Collectibles?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=217.0

The market is not brilliant at the moment , but you could expect to get 10-20% on the btc that is on the coin .
Might be worth having a look at recent sales/auctions .
If you do decide to redeem them , they also have a value as a redeemed coin, but try to keep the used hologram with the coin, as this can increase the value too.

I'm sorry but there's no way to redeem them but the "old and traditional" way. I think it was design like that for safety and security reasons.

Also, as these are older BTC coins, I know they can also be redeemed for bitcoin cash, bitcoin gold, and all the other BTC hard forks since.  Does anyone know of any easy methods to redeem so many different coins?

I will just post a thread here and it's up to you to decided: LIST OF BITCOIN FORK - WHICH ONE ARE WORTH CLAIMING - HOW TO

Yeah, the auctions tend to get a bit more than just 10% above what YOU got them for. If they're from as far back as you claim and in mint condition, don't see why not.

On claiming fork coins, just make sure you empty out your btc from those wallets to a new one (I'd take the opportunity to get yourself a fancy new one, Segwit yourself too) before you even start considering the forks. OR, calculate the value of those forks and tag them on to auction price (apart from 2 or 3 coins, the rest are a pain to exchange I'd say).

Long ago I saw a video of a guy who could remove the sticker from the back to reveal the key and put it back. You could do that then sell the physical coins as spent to maximize their value.

Well, yeah. Auction is the best answer to OP's question. Who knows OP perhaps get better than what he/she expecting. The market may not be as good as before prior to the COVID-19 pandemic but still there a lot of people who might be interested in your auction. I still recommend the traditional process of redeeming if it is possible, --but as of now, it is really hard to happen.

I'm pretty shocked at the way the physical market has degraded. Much of the time intact sold coins fetch about the same as peeling and claiming all the shitforks and selling the redeemed coin afterwards. When you throw in hassle and worries about shipping it's almost an act of philanthropy to sell an unpeeled one these days.

LocalBitcoin is your best bet, you're gonna have to go through the trouble of finding someone willing to trade your BTC for fiat though.

I quite agree with you!

I myself got my account back about a week ago.
It was hijacked in 2017 by the well-known data leak.

Of course I hadn't expected to ever get my account back, especially not after 2 years had passed.
But then I came across this thread by a perfect coincidence:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5089777.0

In Fact you need some legitimation data to prove that you are the real owner.

But what I want to get rid of is the outdated and still common assumption that it is only possible if you signed a BTC address before and immortalized it here in the forum.

That is simply not right! Without question, this is the easiest and least complicated way.

In my case it worked, because I had enough data to legitimize my ownership.

I can only advise you to try it! I think the odds are good!

Good luck!  Wink

I think you could easily get more than a 10% premium, these coins were extremely wanted especially older users who saw them when they first got into crypto and never bought them (and may be whales today)

This is my first time of hearing about the coin and I can imagine it to be like the coin of Ceasar recently found. I suspect it to be very valuable to be sold for just 10% premium, OP should think of it as an artifact. Anything of that sort.

There are a lot of them created years ago including titanbtc and stop minting this time around with limited numbers that's why they're more expensive right now.

Wow this is the first time I hear physical bitcoin, I thought bitcoin is only a digital currency but in your situation you have it literally in your hand? I can't believe hahaha. I realize right now that I need to study more about bitcoin and crypto currency I realize that I have lack of knowledge when it comes to crypto currency thanks for this thread this is kind of new knowledge to me.
