A very Generous airline passengers (Young Scottish Lady) successfully raised £5,000 in a whip-round held in airplane for Thomas Cook cabin crew who had just learned their had collapsed abruptly without any notice. This Scottish lady collected two bags of cash yesterday morning (immediately after the Thomas cook collapsed) for the flight attendants and crew members, after the flight from Las Vegas to Manchester.

The respective pilot of the same flight had earlier informed all 300+ passengers to ‘pray for staff’ (really??) due to mixed news about Thomas Cook was going out of business. One of passenger Tommy Laing posted on his Facebook: ‘I’ve just landed in Manchester from Vegas, was flying with Thomas Cook, the staff told us mid flight that they’d just been told half way through the flight that we were on the last Thomas Cook flight anywhere. ‘They had just lost their jobs and would not be getting paid this month, they were all in tears.

Soon as the plane landed, this Scottish girl stood up, and said "right folks I’m having a whip round get your money out £20 each". ‘Was a joyful moment!’ Another passengers (couple from manchester) heading back to Manchester Airport from Las Vegas. She mentioned how sad it was to see Thomas Cook staff discovered the company went bankrupt, while they had been in the air (WTF??), and they had all been made redundant immediately without any notice or pay.

She said: ‘When we landed the pilot came on the Tannoy and said “our dream has ended” and told us the staff would probably not be getting paid for working that flight. ‘Staff had remained so professional throughout the eight-hour flight, so the passengers did a whip round for them. “People were being really generous, stuffing rolls of cash, and leftover dollars, into two carrier bags. ‘Staff told the passengers how overwhelmed and grateful they were for the support.

I see that several media reports state that this is the first major casualty of Brexit. As Brexit hasn't happened, this cant be true, but some could claim that is a casualty of a non-Brexit reducing Sterling. In fact Thomas Cook has a recent history of mismanagement, and this is almost certainly the reason. It has major activities in German and Scandinavia, and weaker Sterling should help those. Another consideration is the fact that the tourist industry is a major contributor to the UK economy, and a lower pound should make this more attractive to foreign visitors.

This is one example of the media spin that is trying to push the incorrect idea that leaving the EU would be bad for Britain. The mindless sheeple accept this, but I hope that the members of Bitcoin Talk are a bit more intelligent, and question the opinions pushed by the banking elite who control the EU.

If I had to choose between media reports and @JetCash version I would choose the latters version without any hesitation. The information provided by him once again proves that media cannot be trusted, and they’re only going to print news which can help them generate more sales and revenues. Also the way they left the tourists stranded shows their mismanagement, they should have at least made sure the tourists were send back to their countries.

i agree with you completely. after i had read which sums TC demanded to be able to exist further it was relatively clear that there are misstandings here Roll Eyes
and a government will not let itself be blackmailed so gladly... even if this happens every day to save and support big companies.
but to use this as a harbinger of brexit is really not a fine move. either rhyming the media together because they couldn't localize any other reasons yet or this is really intentional false info to sell humanity for stupid Lips sealed

My thinking is very short and simple: ''They were too old, inflexible, dinosaurs that were overtaken by time''  Grin Grin Grin
Nowadays, people are more spontaneous, do not plan much, and no longer need the help of large agencies to arrange trips.
