I have an old electrum wallet. I didn't get the update option. So I install the new version from Electrum.org. Now replace the new version with the old version and everything works just fine.

I worry about whether I have the right software installed. How to check if it is now affected by malware? How do i know if my wallet wasn't hacked.

I have no balance and no worries. Just want to know.

I worry about whether I have the right software installed. How to check if it is now affected by malware? How do i know if my wallet wasn't hacked.

You can verify the installation file using the following guide to make sure that it wasn't modified or replaced by a malicious third-party. Always download updates from the official website and verify them.

As long as you have installed it from original website then there is very low possibility for malware attacks. And seems you didn't install software from updates popups (there was malware attacks previously) so you are almost safe. However, you should verify download as @BitCryptex said. So you will be fully safe.

How to check if it is now affected by malware? How do i know if my wallet wasn't hacked.
If your wallet has not hacked from beginning then it's safe if passed on test as said above. If your private keys or seed phrase already stolen then you are not safe anyway even there is no malware. It could not be detected by any software as far as I know.

If you downloaded from electrum.org and there was no weird certificate thing you had to accept in your browser, chances are you installed the right version.

In the future, make sure you always verify the signature of the file you downloaded - someone posted a guide for that.

Verifying the signature provably verifies that the file you downloaded was created by electrum.org and it's impossible that it had been tampered with.

Since Electrum is open source, you can read each line and make sure everything is safe. If you do not have enough experience it is best to trust the developer and the views of the community by verifying the signature of the developer.
It is not about what your balance but the permissions of your wallet and the security of your computer.

I worry <....> no worries.
