“The TipJar reddit bot is being shut down immediately, so tipping other users on reddit is no longer possible. The TipJar website will be shutting down on April 10, 2020. After that point, TipJar accounts will no longer be accessible and funds cannot be transferred. If you have an existing balance in your TipJar account, you should withdraw as soon as possible.”

With BAT tipping enabled for redditors to send tips, there's probably no chance for Tipjar to compete.

It's sad to see another Crypto platform taking a bow out. I remember getting tipped once via tipjar. And now, It's no more. Of recent, Some crypto platforms are folding up. Bitcoin Mixers, Exchanges (Cryptopia, CoinExchange) projects too.

It's probably going to be about the market. The space is becoming tough for businesses.

The good thing about this is they have given several months warning instead of just announcing it close to date. Good signs of a trustworthy service which unfortunately is now being forced to close. Hopefully someone will be willing to pick the project back up and carry its name on.

I don't think anyone would be willing to start up a tipping bot in reddit or twitter any time soon. There had been a lot of tipping bots that introduced cryptocurrencies to a lot of people in the said websites and I believe they have done their part, although it would still be cool to have them around. It's time perhaps to move on from this phase and accept that tipping someone in the cryptosphere using social media is no longer--or would no longer be a part of the near future.

At least they have informed their users well before the date of the actual stoppage of the service.

Yes, I've seen other tipping bots both on twitter and telegram which suggests that it's not complicated for developers to create one. With them competing with the likes of BAT, they might also end up like tipjar.
