Never seen this PC server before.
It looks like you can only mine Monero with this PC I don't know if it's worth it to buy.

How much do you think they sell that PC?
If it's cheap it's fine you can mine with Monero or any coins that you can mine through CPU.

I found a post on reddit who mining with this model you can check it here https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/6kf6dh/cpu_mining_on_a_hp_dl980_g7/

Thanks for the reply, I can get the system for $400. I was was just thinking that it would do good with monero and the Random x algorithm. Do you have any ideas that would give me a better bang for my buck?

I don't know for any alternative for $400 seems the mining profitability is super low but since you have free electricity you can mine any potential coins that you think will grow in the future.

According to the reddit link that I posted above you can get 1716h/s with HP DL980 G7 which you can make 0.5+ cents daily if you mining Monero I don't know to other based CPU coins. So if you can earn 0.5+ you can reach the ROI 2 to 3 years.

The only thing that I can suggest to you is to believe in the coin you mine and hold it for a long time and maybe the value might increase to x5 or more so you can reach the ROI with higher profit.

If you get free electricity I would say thats a pretty good deal.  Obviously with a big algo change like this, its hard to predict how profitable it will be.  That rig will give you about the same hash rate as 2 Ryzen 9 3900X's,  which cost $500 each for just the CPU alone. Of course thos 2 Ryzens will only use a few hundred watts total, while your server will be gulping 1800 watts.  But if electricity is free then this won't matter.  Hopefully you have a good place to put it as it will also be hot and noisy  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

There is a really long thread about these types of servers here:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1955358.0   It mostly talks about the DL580 but the only difference between the 580 and 980 is that the 980 holds 8 CPUs, the 580 holds 4. The bonus with these servers too is that if gpu mining ever becomes profitable again, these servers can hold a lot of gpus
