Possible scam warning!! A random user messaged me on discord with the following:

I have 1.22 BTC on coinsball.com and can't transfer it to my coinbase coz of limit, can i send it to you(on coinsball i still can transfer to other users), so you will withdraw it and send to me 1.12 and .1 yours.

this website has only been registered for 1 month.  There are zero google hits for it. It requires YOU to deposit 0.02 BTC in order to make the withdrawal. I have never heard of this site before and neither has some of the well know pool operators.

Pass this along to any other discord channel and forums that you are on.

It's good that you want to report this kind of stuff, but I don't think this is the right section of the forum to post on. Also this is a classic scam scheme, I think I get messages like this on a daily basis both on Telegram and Discord. lol I don't know who gets trapped in this, but if they continue to spam this message maybe they can still catch some "fish"..

Well, first I think this should in Beginners and Help board, and please include screenshots images and the name of the scammer so that we are all aware. Well, I also experienced this and this is similar to the telegram that there is random unknown people sending me in a private message asking for exchange that he can't withdraw but when I was going to withdraw it ask for me to deposit first before I can proceed to the withdrawal process.

Stay away on that, they are a scammer and that is an old technique in a way of fooling people. Sometimes we need to control the greed that might put us on the endangered situation.

Scammmm. You do not need to deposit btc just to get this Bitcoin. Obviously this is a scam, He probably created that website too. Same thing happened to me but I forgot it. Because I also can't take action to punish this person because he!/she using only a dummy account..
So thank you for posting this today, becauae of that the rest of us can be informed here too.

Hey I received similar message before couple of months and initially I believed it when I went to the website it asked for some small amount of bitcoin as a charge in order to transfer the balance which prompted me to leave the website as once you pay it then you fall for them as they will ask more btc to transfer the amount. This post will help most of newbies. They use different reasons like limit, crypto ban in their countries just to scam people.

I dont understand the idea behind that scam and dont know how people fall for it. If they want to send the fund let them send, this an anonymous space. Why would they not want to use exchange or engage escrow, they cant pay much to escrow. Besides lately I barely see any recommendation for escrow, are they also engaged in scam?

not only this there are many people in the crypto field trying to scan the other person and make money out of an example in telegram, you can get the message from the users who wants to sell something which is not worthy.
Then you may find the scam websites also gives advertising to get more money with zero worth product. Such investment will trash you down.

the scam is the website is fake and the funds they need to withdraw are fake. But you are really sending 0.02 BTC to the scammers thinking its to verify your account or whatever. Some people will risk sending 0.02 in hopes to get 0.1 from it

Yes, You are right, because if there were no those who fall into the hands of scammers, then no one would be engaged in spam. And so it turns out that the victim they always find. But in any case, thank you to the author, because among us there are many beginners who can also fall into such a trap.

No, it shouldn't. OP is reporting a scam attempt, so it should be posted under the scam accusations sections, and he has already posted it with all the proof in the world, so he just needs to move it.

Good job reporting the scam OP, there are a bunch of these scams that advertise fake/scam products that require you to deposit first for a reward (happens with casinos, exchanges, etc). Good find.

Not necessary, common sense is enough. They will just changed names.

What matters here is, you should be aware of their "system".

This is an obvious cam but unfortunately, there are times that others are still falling on this trap. Likely, they want to test waters since they can afford the amount in hoping for a big prize in return.

obviously  if it doesnt belong here Im sure a mod will move it.
Or you can move it yourself. there is a move topic button at the bottom of the thread.

I dont understand the idea behind that scam and dont know how people fall for it. If they want to send the fund let them send, this an anonymous space. Why would they not want to use exchange or engage escrow, they cant pay much to escrow. Besides lately I barely see any recommendation for escrow, are they also engaged in scam?

the scam is the same as the lottery scam(in case your not familiar with it) but this time it's with bitcoin. and the Idea of this type of scam is to target
old and desperate people or people who are unaware of how the process of claiming a lottery jackpot works. also, the reason why there is barely
any escrow recommendation is that building trust in this forum is hard to earn. you can check this thread for the most trusted escrow in this forum
link:Recommended bitcointalk escrow services.
