Hey all,....

Im hoping someone can elude/knows about my question.  In regards to "certificate of ownership"   Huh Huh

I was asked for this item, and i dont have it due to it not being available back in 2013 from what i recall, ...perhaps i could be wrong hence why i am posting it here

I know that UTXO and the blockchain ledger was the way to verify in a manner of speaking... to verify bitcoin ownership combined with the private key etc etc...

But back in 2013 were there any "certificate of ownership" available? I think it was too early for this medium and not applicable back in 2013 .... Huh Huh

More so, the only thing i can think of are "CA certificates" but these were not applicable due to the ease of duplication.

So any help on this i would appreciate it... thank you.

i'm not sure what "certificate of ownership" means but if you want to prove you owned bitcoin at a certain date like having X amount of bitcoin in 2013 then all you have to do is find your address or addresses that held the total X amount, find your wallet or wherever you stored their private keys and sign a message from each key with a clear timestamped message that clearly says what you intend to do.
here is a topic about how to sign a message: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0

I believe you have received some tax notices to prove your ownership on the bitcoins you may or may not own that time! Is that so?

Can you please elaborate on this? Blockchain holds all records since inception. If you have used any intermediary to deal on bitcoin back in 2013, you can get a record of transactions from them! Hope this helps!

Does this issue have anything to do with Bitcoin? If not, what is this topic doing here?

Will you have ownership on bitcoin with a tax notification? This doesn't make sense to me. In addition, over which value will be taxed. There are a lot of questions. Anyway, this is not a logical approach to bitcoin.

yea that is what i assumed about a signed message unspent would be the proper way ... and i have no clue either really what it refers too...
ownership cert is more applicable to stocks bonds securities in a banking capacity.

I had lost my key and needed help in recovery ya ya i know but there was nothing i could do alone on this anymore. Regardless i had a good amount of the data, even a pic of it being spendable and more defined points which the owner would only know ex BIP type..etc etc.. So there is enough as determined... or maybe it should be "there was enough" is more applicable now  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes after the fact...

That all being said the white-hats whom are in the banking industry asked for a proof of ownership certificate, which confused me. i said i do not know what they mean unless its relating to stocks and securities ownership but that still wont apply to my wallet due to the year it was created. The more legitimate tool would be a transaction and is  the only real identifier of ownership.
Also since its not a web-wallet (blockchain) there would be no certificate i can pull CA wise, or this out of context assertion of their being one available then ....

The cloest thing i can think of are

Electrum came out with something later i read .... but this bs cert they are asking for has become an issue now; with me asserting its improperly applied to this and  done so despite the agreement and fees paid.
.. but since im not 1000% sure as i see vague mentions when i search, i felt it prudent to come ask here,...

As for the taxes owed under the wallet, yes of course that will be owed and paid, but thats captial gains perceptions and yes falls on security related instruments / positions.

I would also like to ask ... can another bip type be applied to the wallet ....without cycling it on the ledger? ..  if i am phrasing that correctly.

Thank you all for answering, it does help regardless....
