I had one Biostar TB 250 motherboard fail on me and I got and bought the above motherboard Asrock which I paid like 250 EUR because I was enticed by that riserless proposal from them.I forgot that they need a LGA 1200 CPU which I am going to buy tomorrow but they also from what I saw didn't supported normal SSD but only a M2 one which adds to the expenses,I read the manual and it said do this and do that and don't do that and a lot of warnings.

Anyone here has experience with this board to write me with simple points 1,2,3 what to do when first installing it?
It would be really helpful to me to not screw like 500 EUR I will spend in total for my craziness of choosing this motherboard.

https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=865
It says that the motherboard works with Intel LGA 1151 processors and the motherboard has 6 x SATA III Connector and 1 x M.2 (M Key) 32Gb/s Connector, support M.2.
What is the name of the motherboard?

Here is the board he is asking about:

https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H510%20Pro%20BTC+/index.asp#Specification

It uses the LGA1200 cpus
If you click on support it gives a list of exact models of cpus supported.

Looks like it supports  gpus direct in slots and 1 off the special “usb” mining port for a single riser (no edge card needed just riser and usb cable).

Looks like $210 ~ $230 prices are common.

It shows usb3.1 ports under lan port connector or you can use the sata connector on front edge…or the m.2 space.

I normally just run off a usb thumb drive but if you need ssd you can use the sata connecotr or the m.2 which ever you have.

Thank you,I checked the motherboard to see where the f*ck that Sata 3 6 Gbps was and couldn't spot it,so I have to check again and I guess I saved about 75 EUR off the Nvme which I wanted to buy.I read a lot of people saying in forums and the manual that use the extra 4 pin connectors to provide more stability to your graphic cards but I intend to run 2 Corsair HX 1000 Gold PSU-s which I guess I don't need to do that, these PSU-s are far more than enough for my new setup of 2 x Rx 6800 XT,1 x Rx 5700 XT,1 x RTX 3060 ti,1 x RTX 2060 12 GB (will get it after 5 days when it comes) and 1 x GTX 1080 ti.

The sata is on the front edge of the board just to the right of the mining usb connection for 1 external riser (may even work going to a  4 slot board thus aloowing 10 cards.

The motherboard will sync up to 3 psus but only if you need.

It looks good especially with power and reset switches built on board.

Yeah today I am going to get that Pentium Gold G 6400 highly unlikely to find here where I am but I hope and if not I will pay that extra money to get the i3 10100 without the F so I don't need to plug the monitor to one of my GPU-s.I saw it the Sata port yesterday and they put it on the edge while I am used to see such ports on the board, can't wait to fill you up with a photo or video of how it will go in the coming days. Those buttons the first thing that impressed me the most about this board, one reset and one power switch, removing the need to power on our open case board without a screwdriver or without having to make a power button.

Bump

I could have made a new topic for this but I think it fits better in here. This board after giving me a couple of hours of nightmare with all those 5 beeps meaning no GPU detected and the problem was the GPU with display only worked at the uppermost slot near the processor, after that it was a piece of cake to build up and it has super stability so far but whenever I add the Gtx 1080 ti it detects it during BIOS and it shows in green the PCIE slot but it never shows in the device manager,I also have a RTX 3060 ti here and this is my question,I know that RTX 3000 series do not go well with Gtx 1080 ti,is this the problem also here or should I change something?

Why an nvme? You can also add an normal m2 ssd in this m2 socket, 120gb cost around 15€  Huh
And by the way, an nvme ssd would not work in this m2 socket - because it is connected via sata and not via pcie.

I used the SSD I already had but my question is now why it does not recognize Gtx 1080 ti although it comes green on the screen, the fans of the card spin and the lights are on,is this because I also have the Rtx 3060 ti in this board and I heard they conflict with each other, this is my issue right now.

Yes but it must be corrected for others. M2 Sata SSD are not NVME SSD.

LHR or non LHR? Did you tried the 3060ti alone? and add an 1080ti after the 3060ti is working? Did you change the pcie to gen1 in bios? If so change it to auto. You are using internal GPU for monitor? Did the bios recognize the card - check the bios hardware monitor

1.I never use LHR cards
2.I tested alone the 3060 ti with a few AMD cards, all is great, tested alone GTX 1080 ti with the AMD cards, all is great also.
3.I did those that you said in BIOS,still no success.
4.The monitor is connected to my RX 6800 XT GPU at first slot.
5.The bios recognize it and shows it in green while booting(during the initial screen that this board shows how many cards it recognizes) but not in device manager.

PS.I have also latest BIOS update of the motherboard.

That is not true with the Rtx 3060 ti though as I had it in the last slot of the motherboard.May be you say to try Gtx 1080 ti as the first one connected to the monitor this way there is no possibility it goes unrecognized,is that what you mean?Still I am going to give this a try, maybe it works.

Also make sure you have all 6pin pcie power plugs to board bus power plugged to psu.  Since this board has the gpus on board you need to male sure you properly power the bus.  But yes nvidia likes to be in gpu0 on mixed rigs.  ive got several mixed rigs and all require nvidia in first slot.  mmpos also states this in thier support.  Wont cost you to try, but whatever gets it working Smiley

What os are you running btw?  Hopefully not windows and instead one of the mining linux oses.  But again whatever you can make work.  Ive got rigs of mixed gpus and fpgas all running on a rig no issue.  Figuring out what works in combination is always “fun”.

I am running Windows 10 latest update  Grin and I guess that must be the core of my problems, but I want to solve them in Windows it is more rewarding when you make a system like Windows behave full of stability rather than running an OS which stability is it number one credential  Grin.

I know that RTX 3000 series do not go well with Gtx 1080 ti

I've never heard this. Don't assume, prove it by shuffling the cards, putting the 1080ti without the 3060ti,
put the 1080ti in a different slot, put a different card in the 1080ti slot. Even try nVidia first as someone else
suggested, it can't hurt.

Thank you.Already tried all of the above except putting the 1080 ti in the first slot, the only one which displays to the monitor.I am going to test this as a last option before migrating to HiveOS,I will convince my friend about Linux and how stable it is.

If I understand correctly the 1080ti doesn't work in any slot except the first regardless of any other installed cards?
Does the monitor have an effect? Usually on a BTC board the monitor is connected to the iGPU.

If all slots work with other cards the slots are all ok, If the 1080ti works anywhere the card is ok.
It the 1080ti is the only card with problems it look like a driver issue. HW detection is the same,
if Windows doesn't see a nVidia card but sees all AMD cards the only difference is the drivers used
to present the HW to the OS.

Power distribution to the slots might theoretically be an issue. If the 1080ti happens to draw the more power directly from the slot
than the other cards it may overwhelm the slot. The first slot may have the best power. It's common for boards to limit
power on x1 slots but this is a BTC board with all x16 slots and extra power connectors so this should not be the issue.

If it works with LInux, HiveOS or others, the problem is definitely related to Windows.

I'm sorry I was inattentive.
You newbies sometimes do things that I would never have thought of. If I wanted to repeat your experience, I would use HiveOS. If you want to use Windows, then it is better to use the 2019 versions with a patch that disables all updates.
