It's everywhere! Moviepass may be a small known company, but there are other companies who are known to the masses have done similar things in the stock market. In my country, one of the prime examples is Adlabs Entertainment Ltd. They sold their IPOs at 180 INR/share. When it was listed in the secondary market, the listing price was around 167 INR and now the trading price is 3.87 INR/share! All that happened within just 4 years. 

You can understand the kind of manipulation happened at the background when they decided to go public! Not just underwriters, even merchant bankers also also very much affiliated with such mishaps! This is just one example and I can give 10 more example from my country's stock market. Finally our market regulators have decided to do line-by-line audit before any IPOs are live for public!

Manipulation is always everywhere and the aim is for personal gain. There are several companies that do IPOs and after that experience losses but because they continue to develop their companies they can finally provide huge profits to investors example Amazon. So it must be investigated again whether the decline was really due to manipulation or other reasons.

But that's not fair, manipulating the market for their own profit is not that good for others who always monitoring the prices in the market.

Proper manipulation is quite organized and fair for us monitoring it and that should be the state of the market. No one rules the market and no one can say that someone controls people in the market. That's very unfair.

In a sense, market manipulation is never fair, organized or not. It often leads to corrections that most traders do not expect, cause even if a manipulated bull run occurs, the market would sooner or later do a correction for it, which often leads to fake news of Bearish runs literally everywhere around the market. Intentional manipulation should be frowned upon, but if an event occurs (bull or bear run) because of a simple trade or dump done, unintentionally, I'd say it ain't the fault of the trader then, but rather just a fact that the market works that way.

Ha like that is common in the world of commerce, the market is often manipulated, there are even communities that deliberately manipulate markets, usually a community buys or sells together, or maybe it's almost like an ICO or airdrop project, most of the coins end up being junk coins.

I didn't know a company called moviepass (probably never made it to global audience because of what happened in this article) but the idea of selling subscription for movies doesn't sound as bad as people imagine it could be.

I mean of course moviepass did it the very very wrong way but the reality is that if a cinema just started doing this individually, they could potentially just give people 10 bucks a month pass that would let them come there and watch it free, not a third party company but the cinema theater itself so that they would know how much they could potentially make. You have cost of 10 thousand dollars per month? Just sell 1000 of these passes and anything extra is your profit. I kinda like this idea now, may have to do something with it, don't know what I can do but I like it.

It's a tricky strategy to say the least. But ever since Ponzi invented the scams, crooks just re-invented the wheel and not matter how you look at it, those individuals behind are really criminals per se. Because they were able to manipulate and to look everything as legit. Creating new business models, but at the end, it is simply manipulation + scam.

The idea wasn't bad, and that was why moviepass was able to attract quite a bit of investors as well as customers to their subscription plan/idea. That was why when the massive pump and dump occurred, a lot of investors was attracted and a lot of investors were then, well, scammed. Seeing as the fact that it was a Market Manipulation by them, of course, Made them profit but in the end showed that their plan of trying to scam their investors and customers were flawed, which led to today.

This topic very popular about 2 year a go, many people assume crypto already driving by some whales/ exchanges ( not alone ) to get more fund for profit. If doing alone it will not give impact but all do the same it will bring new direction of crypto market. This strategy can't be accepted for all crypto users because they want natural movement. This is fact no one can avoid it but as trader I'm sure you know that there's specific moment the strategy will launched.

I believe it just opinion, whales and exchanges can do it using news and bait price/ volume. Until now I never agree about manipulation because will make people bankrupt and not fair, they control to get more money from public trust. We can't detect manipulation same like scammer but we can take safety action from them. Use your stop loss and take profit point to take care your fund and never trade/ invest in sideways trend, manipulator will create wave to get your attention.

The manipulation is there in every market regardless of what. When there is a possibility of pumping a coin with more than 1000% then why not.? There were teams which just did this and created their coin to do that only.

As you said things like this can not be avoided. However, sometimes people with limited information will clearly find it difficult to benefit from this situation. I myself have never been able to profit from this situation. How about you sir?

Nice article. It is super funny how people have no clue what they are buying into and why I'm super curious how big was the entire PR campaign to keep this up for so long. Literally how many writers/trolls they had on their payroll etc.

For the current market situation, I never think that we are more profitable than 2017.

Manipulation is some kind of market virus eating up those blind minds not knowing what they are doing. Then when they lose, they usually say bad things about crypto or even call it a scam.
