GecKOIN

Original topic:Go here

Thankyou for your time. We want to start the development of this coin, of your coin, with a question. What's the best, finest, easiest, secure algorithm for you?

Not too hard.

SHA-256: maybe a few people will point their now useless usb block eruptors at it.
Scrypt: if you have some minor success, prepare to get jumped on by mine-and-dump multipools.
KeccaK / SHA3: gpu mine away with large numbers I guess. It does tend to consume less power draw from a gpu.
Adaptive N factor Scrypt: gpu mine away but with smaller numbers scrolling down your screen.

The way things currently look,

The first one makes little sense.
The second one just makes your coin a plaything for multipools.
The last 2 have about the same impact on a coin.

darkcoin X11 algo, runs much cooler than other algo atleast in my GPU, 3 times more hash than scrypt  Roll Eyes.  Because of this coin algo i found that sgminer is way better than cgminer 3.7.2  Grin

Any of those algo (in order) :
Qubit
Groestl
X11
BLAKE
Keccak
SKEIN

Those algo consume half to 70% of what scrypt/scrypt-N or scrypt-jane

GPUs are cooler, and less energy drawn.
Configuration is also easier than scrypt-n or jane, and seeing MHs is better than a few KH/s Smiley

In fact, any of the SHA3 competitors are great, as you said, Groestl, Blake, Keccak and Skein are great picks. There are already several miners for each of these algos, and if you could mix them instead of chaining them, that would be great.
