Greeting Bitcointalk! I used to come here back in 2014 when I traded on localbitcoins.com, and it's great to see the forum is still active.

Does anybody know a solution to automate single trades on exchanges, i.e. Kraken? For instance, I'd like a button that automatically places a market order using 95% of my USD balance for a 5x leverage trade. This would be useful during moments when the BTC/USD price jumps percentage points within seconds, because manually inputting the order during such high intensity moments is cumbersome and inefficient and seconds lost can mean slippage from the desired price of entry.

I've been looking into APIs, how to use them, and cannot find what I am looking for (perhaps because I do not know the terminology to describe what I'm looking for). I do know that the means a bot executes trades is precisely what I'm looking to do (without the full automation), ideally with some kind of GUI.

I apologize in advance if this has been asked before, or if this is not the correct place to ask such a question.

Thanks Smiley

Most likely you are looking for a bot by your definition of what you are looking at. But why not try a limit order since you are just buying for a certain price with your preferred total amount you want to trade. If you want to do this manually. Try to use indicators so that you can predict when will BTC might price jump and set buy/sell order near that price. Try Bollinger bands and RSI indicator. It will really help you.

This is not what I am looking for.

A bot is possibly what I am looking for, however I am not looking for an algorithm to strike trades for me.

I know what limit orders are and use them. I am not seeking to predetermine where I think the market will move to set limit orders to execute trades when the prices moves past a threshold.

What I mean is in-situ execution of trades with the press of a button instead of having to fill out an order form. To reiterate the original post, something like automatically calculating 95% of my balance, multiplying it by a chosen leverage to get an opening value, calculating $2 +- (depending if I'm going long or short) of market BTCUSD, and automatically filling a limit margin order by diving the opening value by that calculated BTCUSD to get the amount of BTC to order.

now i understand better, but for this kind of purpose, you need a custom bot for sure.
you set your environment, (something like automatically calculating 95% of my balance, multiplying it by a chosen leverage to get an opening value, calculating $2 +-), and then, just firing a button you submit the order.
Unfortunately, i don't know standard exchange user interface with this feature... but maybe i will be denied!

You are right on that one. At this point none of the reputable exchanges offers such features at all. I honestly don't even think it makes sense for them to invest time and money in adding such features, because most traders looking for automated trades with certain pre-set parameters have their own piece of software custom coded.

I'm pretty sure that you will be able to find someone to get something like that custom coded, but when you haven't got an understanding of coding, how will you know that there isn't a backdoor in the code? You have to let someone else verify the code just in case. Too many pieces of scum around on the net ready to steal money from innocent people. Undecided

Ah, I see. Thanks for the thoughtful reply!

I do have a bit of coding knowledge, but only enough as a foundation to learn the actual tools to solve this problem. I'd be surprised to know for a fact that something open source this isn't available. I wouldn't trust anything that isn't open-source or widely adopted though.

Could anyone with a bit of programming knowledge tell me how difficult learning the how-to and creating something like this might be, and any possible starting points to begin researching? I'd be willing to spend a bit of time slowly learning if that's what it takes.

Most of the brokers in stock market have these kind of features. Automated trade execution is a benefit for me in terms of my risk and management. I can cut my losses automatically without any hassle and that is why it is good for me. Right now, I also finding an exchange with this kind of features in order for me to maximize my profit and avoid huge losses.

actually you are talking about bots, maybe you don't know if bots have many kinds and also settings, maybe you need to learn how to set up bots, if you understand the programming language maybe you can make a bot to your own liking.

Got it. Thanks for the clarification. I will look into setting up bots. I may start with Gekko just to get familiar with bots, however I do now know whether it has the mechanisms I described earlier. Have you (or anybody else) heard of any specific bots with the sort of capabilities I described earlier, or do generally all of them have it?

Yeah! That's what I'm talking about. I've seen similar ideas executed through macros with deeper customization on YouTube as well.

There many interfaces like zignaly or some other which names i don't remember but you can google that easily. Zignaly does not work with Kraken as for now but binance and kucoin are fine. You can use them to manually setup advanced trades kinda like the ones you want. You get the option for TP/SL obviously, rebuy trades  (sell at TP and rebuy some % lower), trailing stop loses and also they give you the option to quit at said time or even more exotic possibilities. There are plenty of options, just do a proper research and if you don't mind stepping away from kraken in some cases then it will be very easy.

That describes exactly what I'm looking for. I use Kraken because my geographic location prohibits BitMEX, Binance, etc. Not to change the topic, but the liquidity on Kraken is piss poor, and it's been making me consider switching anyway.

Thanks Smiley

If you trade on margin, please welcome to the Snapex exchange. there is a limit function and you will be placed with orders and waiting for order execution. In addition, you do not need to take fee for this, this is a good exchange and the volume is also very large so you can rest assured. In addition, they are having incentive programs when you trade with large volumes of about $ 50k, you will receive $ 100 bonus from trading.
Note: this is not an advertisement for Snapex exchange. I am using it and I would recommend it to you to fix the problem you are having.
