Keep collecting crypto in the same way you just did, now just do it as many times as you can. The crypto you are being paid in already counts as an investment.
First of all, I'd suggest that you get out of BCH. Long term I don't think that this coin has much potential as a competitor of BTC nor as an altcoin.
Secondly, $9 is really not much. If you want to trade with it I suggest that you first convert it into either BTC or ETH, find an exchange with sufficient liquidity and trading pairs (Binance is a good choice in this case), and buy one coin that you believe in the long run and just forget about it.
That's really the only way you can realistically make any sum of worthwhile money, in my opinion.
I don't think BCH is bad. I just don't like that it shares the same address as bitcoin. It is a nice coin for new users since it is so cheap to use and not much to lose. Many users lose crypto at the begining due to inexperience and not being used to having total and complete control.
