I recently purchased this computer to experiment with mining. I made a fair bit of change so far,

The rig comes with a 600w power supply and I was wondering if sufficient to add a second MSI RTX 2070. I get free electricity (ie. No hydro bill whatsoever) so electricity is not a concern for me.

Will my PSU power the two cards sufficiently, or do I need to buy a new power supply?

No, it wouldn't be sufficient for 2x RTX 2070.
Can you post the details of the PSU that you have received with the set here?
I wouldn't recommend 600W & lower than Gold rated for 24 7 mining.
Get a Corsair RM series PSU - 1000W to be on the safe side.

Also, disable SLI when mining because it will not be beneficial for mining and create issues per se.

My opinion is 2 2070s would push the PSU too hard, especially if you're OCing.
750-850 would be good, 1000 is overkill. Whatever the wattage get good qiuality
well revewed one.

I apologize, i am new to mining and I have quite a bit to Google about SLI configurations.

The information I got from my rig's PSU can be found in the Amazon link I provided. According to customer's reviews, 600W is the voltage of the PSU.

My 4 x 2080, mining Grin C31, are undervoltet and the whole rig takes less than 600 Watt.
The powertarget of 1 x 2070 is in the range of 200 Watt.
So why shouldnt 600 Watt not be enough?

2070X2 use 850-1000 watt 80+gold is better for miner(maybe you can add more 2070 card in future)

i think 600 watt can run normally but PSU lifespan not going long(run 80-100% 24/7)

use more watt and 80+gold grade can save cost you electricity(but you have free electricity)

Here is the issue with most <600 Watt power supplies when it comes to more than 1 GPU per rig. Its actually not the amount of power that they can put out, its that they usually only have 2 PCIe connectors either 1x6 pin/1x8pin or 2x6pin or 2x8pin.

Looking at the specs for the RTX 2070, its thermal power is somewhere >225 Watts so I am assuming it requires 2 PCIe connections hence with 2 cards you would need actually 4 PCIe. And if you look at most PSUs that are less than 600 Watts they usually have 2 or less of these connections.

So even if the power requirement is enough, you will run out of connectors.

I dont see your point.
The TS bought a gaming pc and wants to mine a bit. And this is definitly no problem.
He can make his first steps without spending more money for a new psu.
For a mining rig he needs lots of new parts, like mainboard cpu (not a 9900k),
mining rig for better airflow and a few other parts.
I assume he had checked the psu for 4 pci-e connectors to power the 2 x 2070.

I know only of 1 algo which will run the 2070 at the max pt. And thats MTP.
But atm the most profitable algo is GRINC31, and thats not a problem.
Beam doesnt take much power too. ETH is low power and so on.
Beside this, running a gpu at max power is nearly pointless.
Its better to loose 10% hashrate and reduce the power by 30 - 40 %.

Overall i would say this gaming pc will use around 500 Watt - 80% of the psu.
Its not perfect - i agree - but for a beginner its a start.
