In which countries of africa do you intend to "growing an ecosystem for African startups"? have you ever lived in any country in africa?

i am african and i will give you very sincere and honest advice, africa is a continent where political parties (which decades were colonial liberation struggle movements) dominate all areas of business, economy, politics, security ... everything that It exists in your country, so it is very difficult for Africa to develop. You may have good ideas and money, but if you don't join some damn corrupt politician, then your project won't have legs to walk. This is Africa. Honestly why will you want to leave your country where technology may be most advanced to go to a lagging continent like here in Africa?

There is no list on the sheet you provided. African is open for a new opportunity and I am not in agreement that business cannot travail in African if you don't join a corrupt individual. I am from core Africa and the most populous black continent. Let us see the idea in the list of categories, that will enable us to provide the necessary contribution.

We decided to launch a mailing list on the ecosystem of startups and venture capital investments on the African continent.
The first letter will leave on Friday. We are already preparing analytics of the venture capital market by verticals and regions preferred by investors.

Are you trying to create a platform to bring Venture capital to new Crypto currency based projects? How are you planning to approach these Venture capitalists with a simple Mailing list?

People need an interactive platform where the applicants can pitch their ideas and where the investors can interact with these applicants. We have seen how scam ICOs has fooled many investors into investing in Ponzi type schemes and this platform you are trying to implement, should be totally transparent and safe to use.

Also, who is going to fund the marketing of the platform?

Do you think that those venture capitalist will simply invest their money on crypto, not down playing your efforts, but it will take more than that. Analytics is good, but will it really bring African capitalist closer to crypto?

This proposal is very broad. You don't state specifically how you want to achieve this in a continent that is dominated by political class with selfish interest. You need to get your fact right before venturing into this kind of project.

In what way precisely would it be better for Africa and eventually for us all. I mean what makes Africa such a good candidate for crypto in your eyes?

Well, for one thing... some of the poorest people on earth are living in Africa. Most of these people do not have access to Banking systems or they simply cannot afford it. <High fees>  The introduction of Bitcoin will dramatically reduce the transaction fees <if you can implement something that works with the Lightning Network>  This will enable a lot of these people to store their wealth without having to sacrifice fees for that privileged and also to pay very small fees to do transactions and/or to withdraw their savings.  Wink

A lot of these people are already using M-Pesa on their mobile phones, but the fees are pushing a lot of the poorest people out of the financial system. People will be able to charge a few cents for micro tasks and also collect those deposits, to be used for micro payments.

I think your table of competency must include the African colleagues who know about the terrain very well. African has a very huge problem that can pave the way for the blockchain to travail.

Ah ok cool, thanks for your answer/explanation. Will they have issues with trust though, in the sense that is it easy for them to trust this digital solution, I can imagine that there might be some hesitation surrounding this transition. But than again you say that they use M-Pesa, not familiar with it but I assume that it is also an electronic means of payment. Like with sms or something?
