On December 29, I sent 50 BCH to Stake.com casino. I have made BCH transfers before to the same account, but during this time there was lag and my screen must have refreshed... I ended up sending the 50 BCH to the BTC address instead. When I scanned the Stake's BTC deposit address QR code on Coinbase, the transfer went through right away with no errors.

Here is the transaction: https://www.blockchain.com/bch/address/pz78rquc94jus5ka2akzd3qz4etxhkzcdq3xwkujvf (i tested few more payments to double check the QR code/correct address)

Within a few minutes I realized what had happened and messaged their support and Eddie the owner of the site immediately notifying them of the situation. Below are screenshots:

https://i.ibb.co/7Kx0h5w/Screenshot-2019-12-29-21-08-31.png

https://i.ibb.co/bJFT2B3/Screenshot-2019-12-29-11-45-37.png

Here are conversations with Eddie, the owner (8 screenshots): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mvj3vfgjc1td6o1/AABevH9FPgeQS614Th5sGOXoa?dl=0

You can see there was 0 urgency to help with this issue and they did not care. Support was awful and Eddie didn't help either. Stake is supposed to be one of the most trusted crypto casinos but they do not support their own customers. This is not good for the crypto community as Stake is supposed to be one of the top crypto casinos.

Now I have 50 BCH stolen, Stake has banned my account and the owner Eddie has just says "You will be okay". I do not know what to do at this point except share this news with this forum. I hope something can come from this. Thank you all for your time, I know it is a lot to look at, but it is also A LOT of money.

Hi Kingjamesss,

I'm looking into this issue for you. From what I can see from your description though, you deposited BCH to a BTC QR code. I cannot stress more that we do not have these coins, we have not stolen any coins from you. A BCH miner currently holds these coins

https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/78881/sent-bch-to-a-btc-segwit-address.

This is the issue at hand from what I can see. I will see if we can contact whoever mined it and request them to be returned, if they are a large enough miner they may do it. I'm not an expert with BCH, but I will try and find out more information. Also regarding the ban, you were banned for breaching terms of service I can PM you the reason if you'd like.

https://www.blockchain.com/bch/tx/795aacccd69d8cd60f255d846c0495448cb6b01355ac0f5095700a7317a4458a It was not us who claimed ownership of this BCH in this transfer. Because BCH is not segwit compatible as described in that stackexchange these coins became "anyone can spend" money. I'm currently doing more research to see if I can find out who claimed this as a gesture of goodwill but this is not our issue.

edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/fcqiuq/need_help_recovering_50_bch/ I've reached out to btc.com's segwit recovery service to see if they can offer any help.

Damn that dude looks unprofessional as hell butthurt you won 50k on their site. Sorry to hear I hope stunna finds something to do about it might be a chance.
I do remembering someone saying these sites are fucked without stunna and now I can kinda believe it.

Anyhow bch itself is a mistake i wouldn't touch it with a stick for a million.

Lost myself funds in similar way, using XCP "indiewallet" it somehow changed the address i had on phone clipboard and ended up sendin 169 xcp god know where.

OP should change the title because Stake have proven that the amount you've deposited did not land in their wallet, it's unfair to have that title and visible to all readers, they have addressed the issue and they are trying to help you out with your issues, which is not their fault anyway.

Stunna, are you Eddie, or his partner? I do appreciate your help. I wish this type of support was given right away and this could've been solved immediately. This is not a small amount by any means.

And regarding the issue, it was Stake's page that refreshed during the deposit, and there is no indication that the QR code was not a Stake bitcoin cash address, because it was. Unfortunately it was a segwit address. This could have happened to anyone. And with such a big issue, Stake did not try to help at all to fix this- until now for the first time, only when I am posting my experience about this in a public forum.

I really hope something can be done.

I just read your chat log with Eddie.  He did try to help, but you sent your BCH to your BTC address.  It's a really shitty situation, but I don't think trying to spin it as if Stake.com is at fault here, or that they were non-responsive, will get you very far.
If they were to reimburse deposits they never received because they were sent to the wrong address, they'd get exploited like crazy.

This. I'm already quite impressed by how much Stunna (I assume he's somehow involved with / in charge of stake.com?) does to help with an issue he – rationally speaking – has nothing to do with. I mean c'mon, he even made posts on Reddit to help find a solution for you @OP. Most don't give nearly as many fucks.

If there was any kind of support from Stake when this happened, I would not have to make this post. If there systems were fully operational and didn't have random refreshes, this would not have happened either.

This is a very frustrating situation and shouldn't have never gotten to this point.

You realize how fucked up it is to create a thread explicitly accusing Stake.com of stealing your money, right?

It had the Gold BTC logo not the Green BCH logo.
There was a message that said "Only Send BTC to this Address".

James, what did you think was going to happen to your BCH in a casino?
From your reaction to this, one could safely assume that you're a compulsive gambler. So you would have lost the coin anyway.
Now, the fact that you didnt look careful enough, means, that you were in a hurry. So if you stole the BCH from some random address - then karma got you back.
In any case this is your own fault.

I posted that screenshot to showcase that in fact the BTC address was owned by Stake and the BCH sent there was immediately recoverable by Stake. They chose not to recover it for me.

You are correct in saying that the screen clearly states BTC, but what happened was:
1. i pulled up the BCH deposit screen.
2. Stake's page has refreshed and default deposit method is BTC so thats what it switched to
3. I used the Coinbase app to scan the bar code and of course the BCH address showed for me. There was no error messages. I clicked send.

only after a few minutes did i realize this mistake (caused by Stake's software) and notified them IMMEDIATELY.

NOTHING was done.

If I understand it correctly, the BTC address owner despite it being their address, does not own the coins since they essentially become claimable by anyone due to the compatibility issues.

So, Stake never owned those coins. I don't know why there would even be any confusion if you agree that Stake site clearly stated BTC (along with the warning messages) on the deposit window after the refresh.
