I'm obsessed with Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality and now that obsession also includes cryptocurrency lol.  So I might as well try to marry these two and hopefully cash in on the future.

So does anyone know of any tokens that are currently going on or are in planning phases to launch an ICO focused within the fields of Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality?

These are the ones that I know of that are still active and made it through the crypto crash of 2018:

LUCYD (LCD)
Cappacity (CAPP)
GazeCoin (GZE)
CryCrash (CRC)
Fantasy (FXXX)
Mark.Space (MRK)
Matryx (MTRX)
Vivid (VIVID)
Decentraland
Reality Clash
HexCoin
VIBE (VIBE)

I also think gesture control for full virtual spatial interaction within these VR spaces is going to be huge.

Things like the Myo Armband, Perception Neuron, VRGluv, Oblong Industries, they are all working on projects that compliment each other organically and when the technologies begin to overlap we will really hit a sweet spot.  Next couple of years for that I'd imagine.  They're all really advanced now.  They need to bring all of their tech together and work on one big project.

I play one AR gamecalled worldopo, its still in ICO I guess. But im not join the ICO. You can download the game in appstore. So this game is like pokemon go where you walk around and claim crystal(diamond) you can build you own mining farm with the crystals you get. Buy your own land etc. it’s multiplayer though, so when you see crystals near you, you better fast to go there and mine it or other player will.

This is my main account. My alt account for bounty report in the future >> asa crypto info

I know virtual reality is a good project and we need the technology in the crypto space but I can't fully vouch for those project carrying out ICO for the development of virtual reality project because we know that a lot of persons will love to invest in this kind of project and it might just be a method this companies are making use of to scam people of their money.

We have to be very careful about so many crypto project because most of them are just out their to scam people of their money and nothing more but giving fake promises.

What is the real purpose of these tokens? Only paying fees in these virtual reality platforms?
I own Immvrse and the price of one token is around 100 times under ICO price  Grin.

So updating this topic, I think most of the projects I had listed were able to still survive.  But not all of them.

I'm getting back into crypto & I'm going to update the list.

Does anyone know of any other AR/VR cryptos that are a solid project?

Only a few from the list that is still able to survive right now. Altair, Spective already become the dead project and more to come. It's just a matter of time until there will be a single platform that can survive in the market.
Caused by the bad trend that faced by VR project and people have already called this idea is a bit impossible to be implemented and it looks like there was no a new solid VR project that is working in the crypto integration right now.

How do you define an alt coin that's survived the crypto crash?

I'm wondering because the only one I've heard of from your list is MANA, and it has been through a -70% crash in the past month. If so, then all cryptocurrencies survived the crash. Some have crashed more than others, but they've all crashed to significant negative levels.

Ignore my reply above. I've read "crypto crash of 2020" instead of 2018.

I could remember when the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality was making noise in the space, those ICOs that was able to raise fund for their project have yet to deliver any major milestone for their platform. I think the project has potential for not really has a stand alone product

And what is the use case for these tokens? To be a payment method on the virtual reality portal / service? So why we shouldn´t use Bitcoin instead of these tokens?
First thing about the use case, secondly think if someone will buy in the future the coin what you are buying .  Cool

Yes I've been trying to go back through them and figure out which projects are still active.  I've removed Altair & Spectiv - really sucks because I thought both of these projects were very interesting and had a lot of potential.

Reality Clash seems to still be building momentum.

Same goes for Decentraland - it still seems to be a viable project, however it's such a massive universe being built that I still think it's years away from a big adoption.

I could remember when the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality was making noise in the space, those ICOs that was able to raise fund for their project have yet to deliver any major milestone for their platform. I think the project has potential for not really has a stand alone product

Yes I agree!  There was so much hype and excitement 2 years ago for AR/VR based cryptos and most of them are now dead projects.  It really sucks, there was so much potential innovation happening within the cross-over of these fields.

LUCYD was a top favorite of mine and was promoting huge AR tech and talent they had acquired & compiled to build new AR glasses.  Now they sell fashion glasses with built in head phones instead of real AR glasses.  Sucks, the project had so much potential!  They are actually still around and alive, however a shred of what they once were.

The real leader in AR glasses seems to be Focals by North.  (https://www.bynorth.com/focals) However, I don't think there is any blockchain integration in their hardware yet.  Which I think is a big miss for them.  But they can always adopt it as they continue to develop out their awesome AR glasses.

And what is the use case for these tokens? To be a payment method on the virtual reality portal / service? So why we shouldn´t use Bitcoin instead of these tokens?

Because Bitcoin isn't the answer for all crypto applications.  Bitcoin is awesome, but there are much better Alts to handle the field of gaming, as well as AR & VR etc.

The Obsession probably caused by the issue in physical space?
Well, both VR & AR would work well in cryptocurrency/decentralized space. And they are likely better for the environment than traveling to/from long distance in airplanes, vehicles, ships etc. They probably use less energy considering how much it'll cost to travel around, rent spaces in physical world. VR or AR will only cost you reasonable amount of data, and maybe more work on many computers/phone processors.
I wouldn't rely too much on both realities (VR & AR) though.

I'm not that good with AR and VR coins but the only one I have presently in my wallet is worldopo which Is still very young and I intend to hold since the team seem very serious but the use case of AR and VR are lacking because of low interest

I believe that virtual reality cannot exist without the blockchain, but now I do not know of any really good project which has advanced in development. those projects that you described for me look like ordinary shitcoins and I would not invest in any of them.
