This auction is for a few great collectible Bitcoin history lots:

Lot #1 - Crypto Candle. The candle is in like new condition and never lit, smells very good. Box in great shape also. This was a business that was around until I believe 2018. Each candle had a token encased in the wax. Once the candle was burned, there was a numeric token to potentially redeem for .1 to 1 Bitcoin. The company is no longer around, and the website appears to be no longer active. There are still other social media pages active if you google "cryptocandle," but they do not appear to be updated. A very rare piece. Ebay has one that I can find with a listing price of $599.99:

Lot #2 - The Hacker Quarterly 2600 - Spring 2011. Recently discovered by another forum member (thank you Mbitr!), it appears this predates the Oct 2011 New Yorker for one of the first Bitcoin articles to appear in a magazine.

Was the candle purchased directly or from a second-party seller?

Also no way to redeem the BTC either way, correct? As the private key is not actually stored in the candle.

To field questions, I bought three of these directly from them when they launched. I burned two, which were non-winners and misplaced the last one. I recently was unpacking some old moving boxes and found the 3rd. Probing the memory banks, but from what I remember the candle has a code on the token. When the token was exposed you would the enter these digits on their website to find out of you were a winner. I do not believe it’s a cold storage wallet at all with private keys etc. The company does not look to be in business any longer, so I would consider these a collector item vs a lottery ticket. Forum members may know more than I do about these. Feel free to chime in  Grin

From the eBay Listing:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DOES CRYPTOCANDLE WORK?

It’s simple: you get your candle, burn it, and retrieve the token buried inside. Each token has an alphanumerical code printed on it, which you then enter into the redemption code area. Once you enter your code, you’ll learn if you won something and be prompted with next steps to redeem your token for your winnings.

HOW MANY WINNERS ARE THERE?

For every 5000 candles, 1 candle contains 1 token that may be redeemed for 1 Bitcoin, 2 candles contain 1 token each that may be redeemed for .5 Bitcoin, and 50 candles contain 1 token each that may be redeemed for .01 Bitcoin.

I WON! NOW WHAT?

You’ll be prompted to email our team some information directly to validate your identity and start the process of receiving your prize. We’ll transfer the Bitcoin directly to your existing Bitcoin wallet, or help you get set up with a wallet if you don’t have one already.

WHERE DOES THE SCENT COME FROM?

The scent was developed by our team, and contains notes of Oakmoss, Sandalwood, and Amber-Patchouli.

HOW IS CRYPTOCANDLE MADE?

We work directly with perfumers and wax experts to develop the scent, mix it, pour the candles, and package them up and send them your way.

WHO MAKES CRYPTOCANDLE?

Would you believe us if we said Satoshi Nakamoto?

CAN I TAKE PART IF I'M NOT IN THE UNITED STATES?

This opportunity drawing is only available to those living in the United States. This is not a lottery, no purchase is necessary to participate.

The Ebay listing is misleading, as it suggests the company is still around and you could redeem for BTC. I believe they are out of business, so again consider this a collector item. The Ebay listing is not mine, nor am I affiliated in any way with the seller.
