I'm new to cryto world. Id like to ask what are the requirements of registering an ICO?

Let's say my project won't produce any crypto currency, but needs some voluntarily developers instead of investors who whould be interested in using the created platform for themselves instead of getting any money profit.

If it's possible will it be okay to make the number of tokens equivalent to the number of developers participating in the project's development and to give one token to one developer?

And will such an ICO protect the project's idea of being stoled and used by other people or there's no such a protection and it will be necessary to get some kind of patent?

Before answering your questions I would like to know what these tokens represent? As you said there will be no cryptocurrency for your project, so do these tokens represent ownership in your project? If yes then what benefits will the token holder get? Share of profit? Also how will you distribute the shares so everything is transparent?

Or did you mean Ethereum tokens?

Well, you can easily create any number of ERC-20 tokens and then give them to developers, the question is - what's the point? The whole idea of tokens is that they should have some value due to their usability on a platform, and in your case it's absolutely not clear how will you achieve this, especially since you only want to give 1 token per developer. It's better to create millions of tokens and distribute them between developers. But this idea has lots of flaws.

1. If a small group of people controls all supply, no one would have faith in the price of this token.

2. Why would developers work full time on a very hard project just for a promise of getting some token that might or might not be worth something? No serious person will work under such agreement.

3. What's your contribution here? It looks like you want to start a business without putting any of your money or work.

ICO is Initial Coin Offering, so no coins...no ICO

How about you forget coins and tokens and use the traditional share method? As thousands of companies do when they start from scratch?
Besides, voluntary means no reward!

Nope. Holding an ICO is just a money grab, protecting your idea has nothing to do with the ICO, that's what a patent process is for.

It looks like you want to start a business without putting any of your money or work.

It depends on your jurisdiction, but IMO you won't need ICO for your project.

It's basically an open-source project.

Yes, but that is not needed. The token will be worthless just like karma, merit, etc.
If the project can be useful then the devs will be benefit from it anyway, it adds good experience on their resume.

MIT License? Anyway, before you continue, you should ask yourself if this project will focus on earning profits (commercial) or not.

everything you say is in contradiction with what ICOs stand for.
if you want to create a "platform" to be used by people then there is no need for a token! it has to be stand alone and be able to offer something regardless of another project (the token platform than an ICO depends upon).
if there is no monetary gains then again there is no reason to raise funds using an ICO!

if you create an ICO with what you explained here, it means you either don't understand what ICO means or you want to get paid while have others work for you for free

If you have a non-cryptocurrency business idea that needs funding, you're looking for an Initial Public Offering or IPO[1], not an ICO.

Unless you already have a name for yourself and have a history of businesses, good luck looking for public investors. You're likely going to need to go and pitch your ideas to individual investors instead.

And why it's already in your idea of registering your ICO? it sounds odd for me to hear someone new and is asking for this kind of thing.
