Same here. theymos new draft feature is now very useful.
Surely it wont work if you preview it and the site 502s though? By the way: Even if your post fails with some error, a draft is likely to get saved. The draft is saved before most errors can occur.
Not sure if the site going down would fall under an error though? Drafts are auto-saved......every whatever minutes......or seconds, ask theymos. We're all familiar on how web-mail draft function works, right? right As far as I can tell so far it doesn't save unless you preview it.

I am experiencing this. Need more servers? Out of curiosity, is there a single server behind Bitcointalk.org? Or is it a HAProxy front to the cluster? Because it could as well be both... Posted from Bitcointa.lk - #BZUTAPpKAHUUrG7c

My anger against what is wrong in the Bitcoin community is productive: Bitcointa.lk - Replace "Bitcointalk.org" with "Bitcointa.lk" in this url to see how this page looks like on a proper forum (Announcement Thread)Hashfast.org - Wiki for screwed customers

Happens to me mostly during the evenings (forum hours). Maybe the load on the forums increases and it can't cope with traffic.

Yes, just happened with me was going through the forum posts and certainly the error pulled up, could be because of excessive load on server.

I too have noticed this message many times when I visit this site. Things have been somewhat better lately but I always just got the feeling that this was due to high traffic? I really don't know what the scoop is on the issue but I'd say it's not as bad as it used to be on my end.

I think that someone is trying to brute-force passwords. Bad login attempts were handled very badly/slowly. I fixed the performance issues there, though the brute-forcing is presumably still going on. I don't have time look into it. A single IP can attempt logging in no more often than once per 45 seconds, though, so it shouldn't be too easy to brute-force passwords.
You don't have time to look into it? Seriously? Why don't you spend some of that 6000 BTC to hire someone who has time to look into it. Seriously. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=236325.0

Today's 502s were due to a bug. I fixed it.
Specifically, when certain URLs were given to the image proxy, they caused the script to hang for 30 seconds and eat up connection slots because PHP's fopen() apparently doesn't respect timeouts in some cases. I'm not sure whether someone intentionally exploited this to take down the site, or whether it was accidental. Anyway, I changed the script to not rely on PHP for handling timeouts.
