Its never possible to find the privet key .Its an imagine only or you can dream that you find this .If possible Houbi will definitely track you and you never sleep a moment that you have stolen and they will track you for sure .Ohs the moment will be complicated and i can't just imagine it for now.
maybe not as easy as we would imagine, if the thief has done it means they have also learned how they can not be pursued. there is no thief who wants to be caught easily after doing so.

every action let alone its relationship with crypto is certainly not an arbitrary thief involved there and it is clear they have prepared what will be done so that it cannot be traced.
each thief is sometimes a step ahead of those who trace their path.

I prefer to be honest 255k is such a huge amount of money that they will do everything to run after you, this is not fiat where you can use right away and cannot trace any movement of that Bitcoin, you will be track and recorded and you will spend a lot of time trying to run and transact these Bitcoins, of course you can use mixer but they will eventually caught you.

Indeed, I wonder what makes OP ask this kind of question.  Are you jealous of the amount that Houbi wallet is holding @OP?  Even if I know the private key of that wallet, I would not dare to steal the fund on it because I am sure that lots of people will be affected.  I am living a good peaceful life, why would I make my life miserable?  I won't exchange my peace of mind with that amount of money.  And it is wrong to longed for someone's belonging.

There's a lot of people claiming they wouldn't steal the money here.

But let's be honest. 99% of people are going to run off with the money. That's $2.9 billion right there.

There are a huge number of people living in third world countries on this forum, many of which suffer from struggles that we don't even understand.

If you're given the chance to save your family, at the expense of others, nearly everybody would do it.

The best scenario would be to just take a tiny fraction of it, such that Huobi can cover the losses—Binance SAFU fund style. This would only impact the Huobi shareholders, rather than the entire exchange userbase.

I wouldn't generalize that heavily.

Would you take the insane risk to take almost $3B out of one of the top crypto exchanges in the world and run away with it? I wouldn't. I wouldn't do it even if I was quite sure I'd do it so that I wouldn't be found out later. Besides the purely insane risk of being caught for the largest BTC heist in crypto history, karma would hit me hard as well. Definitely not worth it. Cheesy

A while ago, I was asked what would I do if I knew there's a certain empty house around my city that holds $1M inside: steal it or leave it? I'd in all honesty rather choose the latter. In this case, it'd be so much more elegant, appreciated and risk-free to simply ask them for a bounty - and you wouldn't live your entire life under the constant terrorizing fear of being caught.

First of all, I don’t see why I should be taking or stealing what does not belong to me? If I’m in a position where I have the private keys to their wallet address, stealing it wouldn’t be a good thing for me to do. Depending on my mood, I might just give it back to them and also let them know what happened and tell them to be very careful next time. If not that, I might be making a deal with them, by letting them know that I would have stolen those coins but never did that, so I don’t see anything wrong with them tipping me right?

And just like you have said, in the other way round, if you steal the coin you’re going to eventually get caught. So it’s best you just leave it to them or you make some deal with them. It’s all your choice. As for stealing it? Nope, not a good idea. Even if I can get away with it, I still wouldn’t do that, because I have good values.

If ever we come to know and want those btc either you leave as it and do nothing and if want to use, I would sell some and distribute the required handy stuff to the needy people at this current situation. World is facing the major issue on this pandemic and millions of people are going through worst of their life. So atleast helping them would give some positive points in the life.

I'm probably one of those people who would choose to run with that amount of money. I just don't know how to hide though. Its just too easy to spot a person like me who looks like who has nothing in life but have money to spend lol. That would make me very suspicious to authorities.

My point is that I have no where else to go and cashing out bit by bit will only allow me being exposed everyday.

I was browsing all the answers and maybe this is a bit technical but the address mentioned is a P2SH address used, you need multiple private keys to unlock. So there is no single "Huobi's private key" that would give you access to the funds.

Sooner or later you're going to realize, just as I did, that there's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path

What? Why?
In short:
  • The address starts with a 3, this means it is a Pay 2 Script Hash
  • When a payout is done to a P2SH-address the output is locked in a way that says: Whowever can provide a script that hashes to this value and can provide the needed elements to run it successfully can  spent it.
  • The content of the script itself is unknown (only the hash is) as long as there is nothing spent
  • When using the address for spending the script gets revealed (in the ScriptSig) so you know exactly what the content is

In case of th Huobi address it's a Multisig script requiring 2 signatures, in other words you need 2 keys.

Sooner or later you're going to realize, just as I did, that there's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path

BTCBTCWhy so doom about guessing? I didn't say that it is possible and I read replies kind "You can't do that", "There's no point to discuss it since it's impossible". I say IF. I know it's not possible.
