I personally find it strange that only a few articles on the subject mention the prices.

Here's what I have managed to dig out:

The estimated starting price for the disc is $12,000-18,000.

But that's all. Since it is known that the first 21 pieces in this collection were sold to various collectors worldwide, it would be interesting to find out at what prices those pieces of art were sold.

I’m with you on this - not a lot of info out there. I wonder if the OP will give us any more info ?
Anyway we’ll find out on 7th October what price this one goes for ?

I've signed up to the auction just to see for myself too (https://www.robertalice.com/auction). Maybe the previous ones were held on as private biddings, which suggests that only reaching out to them will get us an idea. It does like the rich people are willing to spend more and more on these... art-math types now.

I rather see this as a priceless piece of art:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5278491.0
 Cheesy
"Robert Alice
Block 21 (42.36433° N, -71.26189° E) (from Portraits of a Mind)
signed and dated ‘R. ALICE 2019’ (on the reverse)
24 carat gold leaf, suspended pigment and acrylic on canvas laid down on panel, and NFT (Non-Fungible Token)
diameter: 50 ½ in. (128.5 cm.)
Executed in 2019. This work is accompanied by an OpenDime hardware key."

Never seen this mentioned before nor see anyone outside jeff bezos or bill gates would want to bid on this so to collect them all.
But art is subjective. Smiley

Hi Smiley

I went through the procedure of registration on Christies specifically for following the bidding(I even confirmed my email), and yet I can't see any new info, (The "Estimate: USD 12,000 - USD 18,000" was available before registration, also it is not something we don't know). Maybe it is possible to get an idea of the current bids by hitting "Place Bid" button, but it's asking to "upgrade to a transactional account", for which you have to provide your phone number, address, postal code etc., and I don't want to do that.

So, now it's a mystery to me, were there no bids at all, or I just can't see them?

Maybe you have an upgraded account there, and can share some info with us?

The final price can be quite high, btw. Check out this article:

Block 21 will also have a non-fungible token (NFT) associated with it, linking the physical and digital world together for authenticity

I think it would be better if the art itself will hold some kind of private key that is claimable by the winning bidder. Associating it with another kind of crypto aside from Bitcoin is something that I don't like in this artwork as if the artist wants to associate it with Bitcoin he should have finished it of with a private key that is actually containing some Bitcoin for the winner, he can even throw it as some kind of puzzle for the owner to know.
